Shades of Blue (Omegaverse BL)
Chapter 96 - 94 | Okay

Chapter 96: 94 | Okay

After saying those two sentences, Blue cried for a few more minutes before composing himself. He shook away Adam’s arm around his shoulders and wiped the tears off his own face.

"Fuck. This is so annoying." Blue said after wiping his face, then standing up to his feet.

"Are you okay?" Both Adam and Logan asked Blue at the same time, seeing that he was truly not okay.

Blue nodded his head as he said, "I’m fine. I’m okay. I just need to wash my face."

Blue walked out of the living room and went over to the restroom after saying those words. Logan and Adam looked at each other in Blue’s absence and had the same thought in her heads—Blue was definitely not okay.

"What did that friend of yours do to him this time?" Adam asked Logan with an accusatory tone.

Logan raised both of his hands in surrender as he said, "I don’t know. And why do you think Winter has something to do with this?"

Logan was lucky Adam wasn’t wearing any slippers on his feet because if he was, he would have taken them out and used each slipper to hit sense into Logan’s brain.

"Did you see the bruises on his wrists??" Adam questioned Logan.

"Did you see the ones on his knuckles?? He clearly pummeled someone before coming here." Logan said, his eyes never straying from the direction Blue disappeared into moments ago for fear that Blue would return at any time and catch him not minding his own business.

Adam didn’t say anything to Logan. He just continued to look at the Alpha with irritation in his eyes. A few seconds passed and Blue returned to the living room.

Adam’s heart melted once again as Blue sat down next to him.

"Are you better now?" he asked Blue.

"Yeah, I’m fine," Blue responded whilst nodding his head repeatedly.

"That’s good. So can you tell us what happened?" Adam asked softly.

Blue opened his mouth to speak but his voice was drowned by the sound of loud music. It was Logan’s ringtone. His phone was set on the center table where they could all see the screen.

It displayed Winter’s name as the caller’s ID. Blue’s fists tightened. Logan glanced at the phone, then at Blue and Adam, confused about what to do.

The phone rang two more times before Adam groaned out loud and said, "Just pick up the damn call!"

"Yes. Yes. Yes." Logan said in a hurry, scrambling to grab his own phone.

Before he accepted the call, Adam said, "Put it on loud speaker."

Logan didn’t think twice before nodding his head and doing as he was instructed.

Immediately he accepted the call, Winter’s voice came up saying, "Is he with you?"

No greeting, no exchanging of pleasantries, nothing. Just straightforward questioning. Logan was used to this side of Winter.

"Is who with me?" Logan asked cluelessly, not-so discreetly glancing at Blue.

"I’m not in the mood for jokes, Logan. He’s with you and red-hair, right?" Winter spoke with an unamused tone.

Adam’s hand unconsciously went up to pull a strand of his hair. He had long since dyed the color of his hair from pink to green to blue to purple, now red. It was obvious he was the ’red-hair’ that Winter was talking about.

Adam couldn’t help but frown a little. Winter was the worst.

"I don’t know, Winter..." Logan stressed, unsure of whether to reveal Blue’s location to Winter or not.

"So he’s with you." It wasn’t a question this time. Winter let out a sigh of relief before saying, "Good."

Then he terminated the call. Logan acted like his phone was a hot potato as he immediately dropped it back on the table after the call.

Blue didn’t change his expression one bit during the call while listening to Winter’s voice. Adam had been paying attention.

"What happened, Blue? You’re scaring me." Adam said aloud, curiosity killing him.

Why had Winter been so straight to the point? He didn’t even ask whether Blue was okay or not. Didn’t say anything about coming to pick Blue up. And Blue had actually cried...

Adam had known Blue for years, and never had he seen Blue cry before today. He’d occasionally met Blue in bad and sad moods. But he’d never seen Blue actually cry. And for an Alpha, no less.

Adam was seriously scared.

"It’s nothing now that I’m actually thinking about it. I’m just stupid." Blue finally began to speak.

Winter wasn’t wrong to care about him or get angry with him. Blue felt like his insecurities were just the main problem. They kept on making him interpret Winter’s actions in alignment with his fears.

As Blue explained things to Adam, he realized more and more that he was an idiot. He was incredibly foolish because no matter how hard he tried or how much he pretended it didn’t mean anything, he still saw Winter as an Alpha.

And he still hated Alphas. And there would always be a part of him that would be quick to judge and hate Winter because he was an Alpha.

At the end of Blue’s explanation, Adam was really stumped on what to do and say. He, himself, wasn’t a relationship person. Only the heavens could understand what he had going on with Logan. He was the worst possible person to give any advice about dating.

Logan had been pretending not to listen to Blue’s explanation all this while as he had distanced himself from them, standing inside the kitchen. Seeing the complex look on Adam’s face and understanding what it meant, Logan decided to step up and take one for the team.

"I... Can I say something?" Logan stepped out of the kitchen, calling attention to himself.

Blue and Adam lifted their heads at the same time to look at him. Logan walked over and sat down across from them. He felt super awkward as he was about to defend his friend who, according to the looks on the other two people’s faces, was the one in the wrong.

"You said you came back really late and didn’t have the time to reach out to Winter at all. You might not be aware of this, but yesterday marked you guys’ anniversary." Logan said.

Blue frowned and said, "No, it didn’t."

He was sure of his response because their anniversary was more than five months away and he was sure he had enough time to prepare for it.

"Not the anniversary of you two getting together, but the anniversary of Winter deciding to chase you." Logan clarified.

"Huh?" Blue and Adam spoke at the same time.

Logan didn’t know how to explain this to them in a way that they would understand. Yesterday, two years ago, was the day Winter crossed paths with Blue at the particular club meeting where he was ignored by Blue, prompting him to decide to get Blue no matter what.

Last year, they celebrated it, but Blue didn’t have any idea about it. He must have just thought that Winter was being romantic. It was only Logan and Winter who knew the truth as Logan was the one who would set things up for the couple.

Logan explained this to Blue, ending with the words, "You guys were supposed to have an exclusive date at the top of the Castle Country building."

If Blue felt stupid before, now, he felt like a complete idiot.

"But it’s okay. He just wanted to spend the day with you. I’m sure he’s not actually upset or anything." Logan added in a haste, trying to remedy the situation after he saw Blue’s eyes well up with tears once again.

Adam threw a glare Logan’s way, signifying that it was time to shut his mouth. Logan understood Adam’s intention loud and clear as he gestured zipping his mouth and locking it with a padlock, then throwing away the key.

Adam rolled his eyes at Logan’s foolish gestures, then turned his attention back to Blue. Though Blue was not crying again, he looked like he was truly about to cry. Adam felt really bad for him. So did Logan.

And contrary to the two people’s beliefs that Blue was going to cry, he didn’t. He blinked twice, then inhaled deeply and said, "That’s all fine and good. I’m just tired now and I want to rest."

Blue chose not to say anything anymore. He felt foolish and was annoyed with himself as well as Winter. But since it was already late and he didn’t want to talk to Winter, he decided that it would be best to leave everything for later—which was his original plan before he got into a fight with Winter.

’Rest today, think tomorrow,’ Blue thought to himself.

Author has something to say: ’Gwenchana. Ding ding ding ding’

Who caught the reference to the Empire State Building? I’ve always wanted to do that thing where authors change something for copyright purposes or something like that. You guys know the brand, Calvin Klein. In some books, you’ll see it as Kalvin Clein. I wanted to do something like that. Haha.
