Chapter 90: 88 | Difficult
"Can we just stay like this forever?" Winter whispered against Blue’s hair.
Blue sighed to himself and broke apart from the hug, saying, "I wish..."
He sounded so exhausted. All he wanted to do was bathe and sleep.
"Then why don’t we?" Winter came close to Blue once again and began to pepper kisses all over his face.
Blue already knew what would happen if he let Winter continue so he gently shoved him away and said, "Not today. I’m tired."
Winter smiled mischievously, assuming that Blue was only playing hard to get. So he wrapped his arm around Blue’s waist and pulled him in tighter, his kisses falling on Blue’s neck.
"Winter... I said I’m tired." Blue complained with a groan, trying to push Winter off him.
He was unsuccessful. Over the span of two years, Winter had grown more muscular, taking his physique seriously. While Blue had grown weaker, having fewer people to beat up since he graduated from Chestfield and was facing the real world.
"Just one round. One round, I promise." Winter begged with a convincing tone as he slipped his hand into Blue’s shirt and was able to touch his bare skin.
Blue slapped Winter’s hand through his shirt, saying, "Stop it. I’m tired and sweaty and not in the mood."
His voice was very serious this time, filled with rebuke. Then it became softer as he said, "I just want to bathe and sleep. I don’t even have the strength to eat dinner."
Winter finally got the message as he withdrew from Blue with a frown on his face. Blue noticed the sour expression on Winter’s face and said, "Don’t make me feel bad for being tired."
"Why shouldn’t I? You’re always tired." Winter’s last statement was a grumble as he turned his back to Blue and began to walk deeper into the house.
Blue had no choice but to chase after Winter, kicking off his shoes and flinging his bag on the floor.
"Wait up!" Blue called after Winter, seeing as the latter had walked into the kitchen already.
When Blue reached the kitchen, he caught Winter stuffing a plate of food inside the fridge. Blue’s heart softened.
He asked, "Did you make dinner for me too?"
Winter didn’t respond. He only wiped his hand with a cloth and walked out of the kitchen. Blue had to force himself to run up to Winter before he went up the stairs and caught him in a back hug.
"What are you doing?" Winter asked with a hint of annoyance in his tone.
"Don’t be mad. It’s just the shooting. Sometimes it goes well and other times, it goes bad. When it’s the latter, it stresses me the most." Blue explained to Winter, his hand tightly wrapped around Winter’s hard abdomen.
Even after the explanation, Winter was not still sated as he said, "Why can’t you just hire new people who won’t stress you and come back home? No actor or staff is irreplaceable, right?"
Blue let go of Winter and crossed to his front to say, "How can I come back home and fire people? Are you even listening to yourself?"
"It’s not that hard. You’re the one who does things like this to yourself. What’s the profit in coming back home late every day and knowing that the process is going to be the same with little progress??" Winter vented.
"Oh, my God! Stop making it sound as if I chose this! You’re the one who convinced me to take the posts of the assistant director and screenwriter. You said it’d be fun and I’ll get a chance to explore another career path!" Blue raised the pitch of his voice.
"Well, I’m saying it’s pointless now!" Winter countered.
"It’s pointless because I’m actually working? Sorry I’m not a third-gen kid like you who doesn’t have to do anything all day at the office." Blue said sharply.
Winter’s face turned red with anger as he said, "How do you know I don’t do anything? You think I just dress up and go to the office every morning to sit down and do nothing, then come back home?"
"Yes! Other than that, what else do you do? Oh sorry, I forgot that you have to act like a saint all day when you leave this house. That’s tons of work." Blue said.
Winter didn’t say anything after that. Blue also didn’t say anything. The two of them just kept breathing and looking at each other.
As they were both equally stubborn, none of them was going to apologize for going overboard first.
It was Blue who had to break the icy atmosphere by saying, "I’m going to bed."
Then he stomped his way up the stairs. Winter clearly heard Blue slamming the door to their room as loud as he could when he got there.
"Fuck..." Winter cussed in Blue’s absence, pinching the bridge of his nose.
He’d only wanted them to have dinner and sex. Why did Blue have to be difficult all the time? Winter exhaled through his mouth and went to sit on the chair closest to him.
He did not go up the stairs throughout the night. And Blue didn’t wait for him to come up either.
The next day, Blue woke up bright and early. Not earlier than Winter though. When Blue got downstairs, he realized that Winter had already left for work.
After graduation, Winter began interning for one of his father’s companies. It wasn’t like he needed to anyway. It was only after much convincing from Blue that he decided to work.
Left to his own devices, all Winter wanted to do was socialize with people he didn’t even like. Now, he was a junior staff in one of his family’s companies. And it wasn’t like he was actually working.
In the handful of times that Blue had decided to visit Winter during working hours and not even on lunch breaks, he’d never seen Winter working. He always came across Winter exchanging words with the little Omegas working at the office.
Sometimes it was one, other times, it’d be a group of them. But Winter was never alone. And he was never working.
Blue didn’t feel any remorse for the words he’d said to Winter the previous night because they were all true. He shouldn’t feel guilty for telling the truth. Yet, his stomach coiled as he left the house without seeing Winter’s face.
Blue arrived on the set in a bad mood. Everyone could tell. He didn’t smile when he responded to greetings and just sat down on his chair to watch everyone, prompting the cast and crew to carry out their doings cautiously.
Ken arrived a little later than Blue. And in contrast to Blue’s mood, Ken was in a good mood.
"Good morning!" Ken exclaimed, greeting Blue as he handed Blue a cup of coffee.
Blue muttered a response and collected the coffee from Ken’s hand. Though the head director was a bit on the old side, he still had good looks to back him up.
Why wouldn’t he, when he was an Alpha who could remain in his prime for years without fading?
If it was in the past, Blue wouldn’t be caught within an inch of an Alpha whom he wasn’t beating up verbally or physically. But now...
Blue had lost the strength he used to have. Lost the will to hate. Lost the force driving him to fight.
"What’s wrong? Why’s your face so long?" Ken asked Blue, settling down on the chair next to him.
Blue shook his head, choosing to keep his thoughts to himself.
"Does it have something to do with that kid?" The kid Ken was referring to wasn’t Winter but Adonis. Everyone on set knew that it was only Adonis who could put Blue in such a sour mood.
So whenever Blue was wearing a frown, everyone would assume that Adonis had done something to annoy him.
"No... I haven’t even seen that pest all morning." Blue said before he took a sip of the coffee in his hand. It was hot and bitter. Just like his life.
"Then what’s wrong? You got into an accident on your way here?" Ken pressed on. Blue shook his head.
"I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Blue said casually. What he meant to say was that he woke up on an empty bed.
Though he hadn’t waited for Winter to come to him, he had expected Winter to be with him when he opened his eyes.
That was usually how things went between them. Winter always crawled back to him. But now it seemed like Winter was tired of doing so. Something that Blue had been afraid of since the very beginning of their relationship.
Author has something to say: Okay this is going faster than I expected it to, even as the author. Goshhhh.
You guys should hang on. It gets better and... heavier. But so far what are your thoughts on current Winter and Blue?
And the new character, Adonis?🌚
P. S. It’s not going to be a triangle, so you can be rest assured.
