Chapter 45: 43 | Silent Screaming

"What sort of question is that?" Blue asked sharply without thinking.

Preston was taken aback with the sudden knife hanging over Blue’s tone. It made the man stutter a bit as he said his next words.

"I-I was just asking since you’ve always been so—"

"Always been so what?" Blue snapped. Preston swallowed back his words.

"I’m sorry, I was just asking. There’s been an Alpha hanging around you these days and I’m just worried about you. His family is—"

"I can’t believe this..." Blue said under his breath, standing up from his chair with the intent to return back to his room.

"Listen to what father has to say." Eliot attempted to stop Blue from leaving, but it ended up infuriating Blue even more.

"Listen to what?! Him trying to control my life like I’m back to being his little toy or what!?" Blue’s voice filled the air.

Workers who weren’t even in the dining room could hear his voice and stopped what they were doing to pay attention to him.

"Do not yell." Atlas spoke with a commanding tone.

Blue’s eyes narrowed at him and with a calm voice, he said, "I will yell if I want to yell. Don’t think I’ll be silent because you want me to be silent."

Blue’s words held an undertone that everyone in the room could understand. Atlas looked away from Blue after registering the meaning of his words.

"I’m sorry for asking. I was just worried." Preston quickly said, trying to do damage control.

"Worry about yourself. Don’t you have like, what, five to six months to live? If you think you’ll be able to spend it trying to mend our relationship and die at peace, then you are wrong. The only reason why I’m here is to show you all that you do not control my life anymore.

"I can do anything and everything I want on my terms. I don’t care for your opinions. And if any of you try to exert control in my life, I promise, you will regret it."

After Blue finished, he waited for his words to sink into his family’s heads before he walked out on them. Blue marched towards his room. When he went inside, he slammed the door shut loudly, then silently screamed for almost half an hour.

Silent screaming was a habit that Blue had cultivated while growing up. As he couldn’t let out his anger and pain out loud, he vented silently; in a voice that only he could hear.

However, Blue hadn’t silently screamed in years. Doing it now showed that the part of him that was silenced in his childhood was still inside him.

That part hadn’t healed yet because all he had been doing was hiding it, locking it away, and running away from it.

Blue realized that he had been perspiring all through the whole ordeal of screaming, so he decided to take a shower.

He hadn’t even lived in the Kent house for a full day and he was already feeling drained of life and immeasurably exhausted.

After Blue’s brief shower, he got dressed in sweats and decided to leave the house for fresh air.

Upon seeing Blue head for the front door, the butler tried to stop him, but only a look from Blue was able to render him weak and get him to move away.

If it was in the past, Blue wouldn’t have dared to think of leaving the house when he was suffocated. Things were different now, really different.

Once Blue was out of the house, he reached for his phone and rang up Adam. Adam picked up on the fifth ring and before hearing anything from him, Blue said, "I need a drink. Any drink. Let’s go somewhere. This useless family of mine just showed me that they’re still useless.

"Fuck... I’m out of my mind right now. Come get me, please..."

After venting, the line was silent for a few moments before a deep voice said, "Adam’s not here."

Blue had been walking but as he heard that voice, he stopped on the spot. He recognized that voice too well.

"Why are you with Adam’s phone?" Blue asked Winter with a snappy tone.

"We’re at my beach house having a small party. He’s passed out somewhere, I don’t know. I came to check on our phones and saw you calling, so I picked the call." Winter explained with a truthful voice.

However, he was not being truthful.

The truth was that after the day Blue chased him from his house, he’d been wondering why things went wrong and what was up. Winter decided to use a beach house party to get to Blue by coercing Adam to bring Blue along.

However, Adam informed him that Blue was moving to his family home today and wouldn’t make it to the party. Also, something was likely to go down in the family house and Blue would need him so he couldn’t attend as well.

Unfortunately, Adam was dealing with Winter, the god of sweet-talking. Only a few words from Winter and Adam was already up for the party. Winter got Adam drinking and when the guy was drunk enough, Winter held onto his phone, expecting a call from Blue.

As Winter was the darling of the heavens, Blue indeed called only minutes after holding onto Adam’s phone.

Too bad Blue had no idea of all of this.

"Are you still interested in coming out for a drink?" Winter said with a cautious tone.

Blue didn’t respond.

"Almost everyone’s passed out, but there are still drinks and snacks. The house is really close to the sea and it’s pretty cool and calming here. Perfect place to vent." Winter listed stupid things.

Blue still didn’t respond.

"Close to the beach house, my family has another property by the hill. It’s quiet, just got constructed so there aren’t any smells in the house. It has sturdy locks and I think there is some canned food in the kitchen..." Winter continued saying nonsense.

This time, Blue responded.

"What beach is it?"
