Shades of Blue (Omegaverse BL) -
Chapter 42 - 40 | Mess
Chapter 42: 40 | Mess
After Winter was able to get past thinking about Blue’s reputation and everything that came with it out of his head, he began to take into account that Blue was in the shower. And that Blue was showering!
Blue was naked, standing under the shower, washing up...
Blood began to rush quickly into Winter’s head. He had to mentally slap himself and steel his nerves. He couldn’t derail and bring out his claws. Not now. Not here.
Winter tightened both of his hands into fists and pressed them against his sides. He did everything he could do to distract himself from thinking about the things that Blue was doing in the shower until Blue walked in on him.
"What are you doing?" Blue asked slowly, setting a curious pair of eyes on Winter.
"Huh?" Winter rushed to speak without thinking, meeting Blue’s inquiring gaze.
Winter immediately broke into a blush as he looked at Blue, his cheeks turning red. He cast his gaze to the floor and prayed he wasn’t getting a nose bleed.
Blue was now dressed in a pale pink shirt with white shorts, accentuating his skin and his delicate-looking Omega features.
Winter never forgot that Blue was an Omega. However, seeing him looking like an Omega (wearing cutesy stuff) deeply reminded Winter that Blue was an Omega, and a dominant one at that.
Winter felt like he could die and leave the Earth without any regrets after seeing such a sight.
"I said, what are you doing?" Blue spoke up again, looking at Winter like he was some lunatic.
Winter visibly shook away the dirty thoughts from his head and said to Blue, "Nothing. Nothing. I was just looking at these... these papers!"
Winter began to scramble around the table, picking up pages of the novel he had long set aside. Blue’s lips tugged up in irritation as he watched Winter do this.
Not being able to take it anymore after a few seconds, Blue snapped at Winter and began to grab the papers in his hand as he said, "I never said you could touch these! I never said you could touch anything!"
Once he was done collecting the papers, Blue began to aggressively arrange them on the table like he had OCD. That was when Winter actually took a look around Blue’s house.
There were several other papers littered about the place with clothes hanging off the other couches. Takeaway packets heaped on one corner of the living room and a pile of dirty dishes lumped on another corner.
Winter slowly turned to look at Blue, confused at the scenery. He wondered if this was Blue’s real place or if it was just the place of another one of Blue’s eccentric ’friends.’
The latter had to be it. In Winter’s head, Blue was an elegant and composed person who wouldn’t be able to stand a speck of dust in his vicinity.
Yet, the only elegant-looking thing in Blue’s home right now was Winter, himself.
"You said that Adam’s place wasn’t available today..." Winter began to lean in the direction of asking Blue if this place was really his house after Blue finished doing whatever he thought he needed to finish doing.
"Yeah. He’s inviting a guest over to his place today and couldn’t fit his arrangements to suit us coming as well." Blue spoke with a disinterested tone as he clapped his hands in a ’done and dusted’ manner, satisfied with arranging the pages of the novel on the table (The pages did not look arranged).
"Oh. Well then, this place belongs to..."
"Me." Obviously.
Blue spoke in a tone that intended his unsaid word. Winter almost spluttered on his next words, finding it difficult to compliment the house.
"It’s uh- cough, cough... a really nice place. Heh."
Though Winter was an expert liar, he couldn’t smoothly lie his way through that compliment.
Blue threw Winter a deadpan look. The meaning being that he knew that Winter was lying about the place and wanted to hear Winter’s honest thoughts.
"This place is a dump. You couldn’t even pretend to care that an esteemed guest like me was coming over and that you needed to tidy up the place. Tsk tsk tsk, Blue. That’s not how to treat a friend." Winter ranted off without a thought.
It had become a habit of his to vomit honest words whenever Blue demanded his sincerity. And every time, Winter ended up going overboard with his ’honesty’.
"Really?" Blue questioned without a genuinely curious tone, looking around the place like he was not sure if it truly needed tidying up.
Winter rose up to his feet, almost flicking the side of Blue’s head.
"What do you think? Look over there, who leaves takeaway packets laying around after emptying them up? You should throw them away! What are you leaving them for? Souvenirs??" Winter snapped.
Without giving Blue a chance to respond, he pointed at the floors and walls, saying, "Doesn’t a dirty and littered workspace like this hinder your writing inspiration?? You’re always complaining that you never know what to write, maybe that’s because this is the place where you write!"
Blue’s lips parted and he put on a thinking face.
Winter was breathing heavily after venting his sincere thoughts. Blue was quiet for a long time. Winter eventually began to regret blowing off on Blue about the state of the house.
At the end of the day, it wasn’t his own place. It was Blue’s. What right did he have to mention all those things and—
"You’re right." Winter heard Blue suddenly speak.
His brain paused and it took him a moment to register the meaning of Blue’s words inside his head. Even at that, the only thing he could say in response was, "Huh?"
"Maybe this mess is really what’s hindering me..." Blue said aloud with a drifting tone.
Blue remembered that the time he had written ’How to be a Perfect Omega’, he had been living in another different shoebox. One that was so small to the point where there wasn’t even enough space for it to get cluttered with things.
At that time, Blue was able to write all day, every day. He was able to write nonstop with his inspiration never drying out.
Now, he had gotten too lazy and comfortable. Maybe he needed that zeal once again. That suffocation he felt in his youth that drove him to write passionately, bleeding his heart out into each page.
"Oh, you’re welcome for being enlightened by me." Winter said with a smug tone, proud of himself.
However, he hadn’t expected Blue’s next move.
"Get out."
