Shades of Blue (Omegaverse BL)
Chapter 40 - 38 | Friends

Chapter 40: 38 | Friends

"Still. I still want to thank you." Blue said to Winter, his eyes were fixed on the floor as his pride would not let him say his next words while looking at Winter’s face.

"It’s ok-"

"And if it’s alright with you, I want us to draw out a truce." Blue spoke quickly with a low voice, unintentionally cutting Winter off.

Winter’s eyes almost bulged out from their sockets as his jaw dropped.

"What do you mean truce?" Winter had to ask, looking straight at Blue.

The latter appeared to be uneasy and shy as well, as though he was some primary school girl about to confess to their crush.

Blue steeled his nerves and said, "For the time period where we’re going to be meeting each other and learning about things, why don’t we do it as... friends?"

The word ’friends’ almost didn’t come out of Blue’s mouth. He could not believe that he was suggesting being friends with an Alpha. In fact, he could not believe that he was more afraid of the fact that the said Alpha would turn down his offer of being friends.

However, Winter was dazed. He was flabbergasted. He was bamboozled. He was all the things that fell under surprise, shock, and overwhelmed.

Blue was literally offering himself to him on a golden platter. What greater coincidence was there in the world??

Winter restrained himself from bursting into a maniacal villain kind of laughter. It was truly crazy. All it took for Blue to take the first step towards him was just this small thing.

If Winter had known, he would have set up people to drug Blue’s drink long ago and pretend to step in as a savior. It seemed like Blue was the type to grow heavily indebted to people after receiving small grace from them.

Winter wondered if that was the case because there was hardly anyone who would do nice things for him and treat him in a considerate manner.

It was so sad for Blue, Winter thought, looking at Blue whose gaze was still fixed on the floor awkwardly. Blue must be thinking that he was truly a good person prior to his beliefs and was ashamed of himself for treating him like every other Alpha.

However, Winter was just like every other Alpha. He just knew how to hide his Alpha tendencies better than the rest.

Like so, Winter smiled and stood up from the bed that he had been sitting on. His actions drew Blue’s attention, causing him to lift his head up to match Winter’s gaze on him.

"Friends, huh..." Winter dragged ’friends’ out loud, behaving as though he was testing the authenticity of the word in his tongue.

"You don’t have to agree if you don’t want-"

"Alright then." Winter intentionally cut Blue off before he got a chance to complete his sentence.

Blue spluttered in his next words as he said, "Re-really?!"

There was still a smile on Winter’s face as he stretched his hands and said, "Of course! But I can’t guarantee that we’ll do many friendship thingies because I have so many other friends."

Winter just had to add that last part which prompted Blue to roll his eyes.

However, it was fine. Blue was satisfied with himself. He had not met a single Alpha who has been able to do what Winter did for him. That was really saying something.

If there was a small chance that Winter was different, Blue would take it. Blue would give Winter that opportunity to prove himself that yes, not all Alphas were the same.

But there was a large part of Blue’s head and heart that was against this decision of giving Winter a chance. A part of him that was used to Alphas never beating their Alpha tendencies. A part of him that a hundred percent sure that Winter was truly as he had been judged to be from the start—

An Alpha like any other.

There was also another part of Blue who wanted to be proved wrong. To be shown that Winter was maybe different. Time would tell anyways.

"Okay, let’s shake to it." Blue exhaled through his mouth and put out his hand for a handshake.

Winter raised an amused brow and chuckled.

"What? What is it?" Blue asked with a fallen face.

"I don’t know how you make friends, but most people don’t ’put a shake to it’ after making a friend."

Though Winter spoke with a mocking tone, he still clasped Blue’s small hand in his. A small hand in a bigger hand. Both fit perfectly into each other like they were made for one another.

Blue’s and Winter’s hands remained in a clasp for a long time before Blue realized something. He first took notice of the warmth of Winter’s hand, then he looked at Winter’s face.

Really looked at it. The sense of Winter being dangerously beautiful suddenly slammed into his head, almost physically taking him back. Winter’s facial structure, his height, his body frame, the color of his hair...

Blue realized that Winter was a living replica of the blond imaginary man he had been thinking about so frequently these days.

The blurry face of the blond imaginary man in Blue’s head was painted with Winter’s features. Blue tried to get back the blurriness of the blond imaginary man’s face in his head, but he couldn’t.

It meant that Winter was his blond imaginary man!

With that realization, Blue retracted his hand from Winter’s clasp as though he had been burned. Winter stared at Blue in confusion.

"Is everything alright?" Winter asked with a concerned tone and Blue was already nodding before he completed asking his question.

"It’s fine. Fine, fine, fine. I’m good." Blue took steps back from Winter as he spoke in a voice that vividly revealed that he was not ’fine, fine, fine’.

However, Winter decided not to drag the matter out. Everything was truly fine. Blue was already in his hands now. He only had to make a move to utterly trap Blue completely.

Thus, phase two of Winter’s hunt commenced.
