Chapter 161: Special Chapter 6

"My baby..." Blue grabbed onto a small child that had been passing by.

"My baby, you’re fine. You’re okay, aren’t you, my love?" Blue held onto the little child tight as he spoke.

"Um... yeah," the child said awkwardly against Blue’s shoulder.

Adam ran towards the two people as quickly as he could. He stood behind Blue and said, "What are you doing? Let go of the kid."

And as Adam spoke, his eyes darted across the place, realizing that people were looking at Blue strangely.

Blue, in return, wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings. He slowly loosened his grip on the child to look at his face intently.

The little kid’s face was beyond familiar. He looked like a crossbreed of himself and Winter. Eyes that sparkled a remarkable shade of green, tussled light brown hair, and a beauty mark at the tail of his left eye.

"Junior, I missed you," Blue cupped the child’s cheeks, tears streaming from his eyes. "Your dad missed you. Why did you leave me? Why did you go away?"

"Blue, that’s not your child..." Adam tried to pry Blue off the kid but was way beyond unsuccessful.

Blue didn’t even bother with any of Adam’s actions, blatantly ignoring him to focus on the little kid.

"I uh... had to go buy candy. But I’m back now." The child surprisingly played along with Blue’s mentally questionable actions.

"Don’t leave me again," Blue put his hand through the child’s hair as he spoke. "I won’t be mean to your other dad, I won’t get angry, I won’t do anything upsetting again. Just- just promise that you won’t leave me. Please."

The child stared at Blue with wide eyes.

Adam was still trying to convince Blue that he was acting insane. "Stop, get up from the ground, that’s not your–"

"I promise," the child said with a sincere tone.

Adam’s jaw dropped. Just what in the hell was going on with all the people around him??

Hearing the child’s answer, Blue pulled him into a tight hug once again and sobbed into his shoulders happily.

The child also patted Blue’s back in reassurance, saying words like, "There, there."

After the melodrama, the kid offered to get Blue candy and the two of them disappeared from Adam’s vision before he could wrap his head around what happened.

"What the fuck? Where’d that kid take Blue?!" Adam questioned himself in panic after regaining composure moments too late.

He paced around the area, facepalming himself. "How the hell did I lose a grown man to a little child? What am I supposed to do now?"

At that moment, Adam’s phone began to vibrate from his pocket. He quickly pulled it out and read the caller’s ID as Winter. Adam hesitated a bit before accepting the call, not because he was on bad terms with Winter and believed he was the one to blame for Blue’s current condition.

It was because he and Winter had this agreement that he’d be reporting Blue’s actions and status to him. Now that he’d lost Blue, how was he going to report his actions to Winter??

"Hello..." Adam summoned up the courage to speak first after accepting the call.

"Hi. Are you with him now?" Winter asked straightforwardly.

Adam had to give himself a moment to process Winter’s blunt and direct manner of speaking. To believe he’d once thought of Winter as a soft angel in the past.

"Um... about that..." Adam dragged his words.

On the other end of the call, a frown had already formed on Winter’s face due to confusion. "What? What’s wrong? Did something happen to Blue?"

"Something did happen," Adam said before he poured out the scenario he’d witnessed a while ago to Winter, not leaving out any details, and especially emphasizing on the appearance and actions of the strange child who took Blue away.

At the end of Adam’s explanation, all Winter had to say was, "You mean to tell me that a child who looked like me and Blue and had Blue convinced that he was his son, managed to steal Blue away from you and you don’t know where they are now?"

"Uh huh..." Adam said with a doomed expression on his face.

Winter’s line went silent, filling Adam with anxiety and panic. It took about ten seconds before Winter’s voice surfaced in Adam’s ears again.

"What you’re going to do now is go to the nurses in charge and tell them what you just told me. Have them check for the details of that child in the care home. I’m on my way there now. There better be useful information by the time I arrive." Winter terminated the call after saying his piece.

Adam bit on his bottom lip and immediately got to work, doing what was instructed to him by Winter.

Adam was able to gather information about the child from the home’s records after explaining the situation to the people in charge.

Apparently, the boy’s name was Austin. His mother was one of the patients in the nursing home registered for a physical disability. However, she passed away recently and the child’s father was absent.

Without having any other relative to take care of Austin, the nursing home had been arranging to send him off to an orphanage. But the process has been a little difficult because Austin was incredibly mischievous and never stayed put, delaying his send off to an orphanage home.

Adam relayed all this information to Winter when he arrived, and by this time, which was almost four hours since Blue disappeared with Austin, there was no single sign of them.

Security guards were put to the task of searching every inch of the nursing home for them but there were no chances of succeeding. The nurses knew fully well that unless Austin returned on his own, there was no way they could find him.

All of this in turn placed Winter on high mental stress. He just wanted his Blue back. Ever since Blue personally chased him away, he hadn’t dared to appear in front of him directly, only cowardly watching Blue from afar.

If that was what he could do to make Blue satisfied, Winter was willing to keep his distance forever. As long as Blue was safe, he was okay.

But now that he couldn’t guarantee Blue’s whereabouts, it was impossible for him to stay still. Winter began to carry out his own search for Blue, starting from Blue’s room, secretly hoping that he would find him there.

Reaching the room, there was absolutely no trace of Blue in it. Winter still went about the room, familiarizing himself with it as he’d never stepped in personally and had always stopped himself at the door.

Now that Blue wasn’t here, perhaps he could–

"Hahahaha!" Winter heard the sound of joyful laughter a moment too late as the door to the room opened up.

He turned around and saw Blue with a bright smile on his face, beside him was a little child that looked like his very own clone.

The two people only noticed Winter when they had fully walked into the room and shut the door behind them. Blue was the first to react, freezing on the spot where he stood as an indecipherable expression made its way to his face.

Austin followed the direction of Blue’s gaze and noticed Winter. He boldly asked Winter, "Who are you?"

Winter didn’t respond. For two reasons: the first was that he was shocked to have been caught. The second was that he couldn’t wrap his head around the existence of the child in front of him.

"I... I’m..." Words refused to form in Winter’s mouth.

"That’s Winter." Blue said, unconsciously helping Winter out.

Now, this made Austin’s little mouth form an O. It was only for a second before a bright smile overtook his cute features and he skipped over to Winter.

"That means you’re my other dad. Hi, dad!" Austin stood in front of Winter innocently.

Winter still didn’t react, his eyes shifting between Blue and the child. Winter didn’t expect that Blue would show a little smile on his face and say to him, "He’s talking to you. Aren’t you gonna respond?"

Winter was still confused, but he managed to clear his throat and stare at the child as he said, "Hi. You must be Austin."

Austin nodded, then beckoned Blue to come over. Blue didn’t hesitate to do as the child wanted. Austin then reached for Blue’s hand and grabbed Winter’s own hand without asking.

The two adults looked at the kid, failing to understand what he was doing.

"Now that we’re all together; dad, other dad, and me, we can now be a happy family, right?" Austin looked between Blue and Winter.

Blue, already bewitched by the child, nodded his head. It was Winter who took some time to respond. He hadn’t been expecting such a situation to play out, judging from everything that had happened in the past.

Nevertheless, faced with the adorable child and Blue who wasn’t yelling or angry at him, Winter couldn’t help but say with tears in his eyes, "Yes. We can be a happy family now."

What came after was a warm three-person hug that held the promise of a blissful forever.

Author’s note: Unexpected, right? I actually wanted to drag this Chapter out to two or three more Chapters but decided against it last night. The more time I spent thinking about trying to make everything logical, the more it would take the complete the book.

It’s fiction. Not everything is supposed to make sense. Sometimes, things are supposed to be adorably cute without any reason. Just like this Chapter.

This is the last of special Chapters that entails of an alternative ending. Up next are the extra Chapters that continues from the main story. They’re just gonna be one or two. I’m not sure yet.
