Chapter 142 - 140 | Love You

Chapter 142: 140 | Love You

Blue returned to his house with weak legs. He’d been the one seeking answers, he got them. Now, what was he going to do with the answers?

Blue slowly went to his room and crawled into the bed. He coiled on the bed, wrapping his hands around his stomach.

There was only one thought in his head:

’How could Winter be so inhumane?’

How could anyone continue to live with themselves after doing such horrible things?

Blue could remember the amount of times that Winter had told him that he’d done wrong things to omegas in the past. However, Blue couldn’t imagine that the wrong things would be like this.

Blue gripped the sheets tightly.

Even though it was in the past. That past Winter was the kind of person whom Blue wouldn’t hesitate to break their jaw if he had known about his behavior.

Kendall was right.

Telling Blue was maybe not the right course of action. Blue should have never been curious. He shouldn’t have gotten Kendall to tell him. He should’ve asked Winter and heard things from his side first.

If he had, maybe Winter wouldn’t have played himself to be the big bad villain of the story and maybe Blue would have been able to understand.

But now, he couldn’t understand anything. Couldn’t understand why.

There was a large part of Blue that wanted to call Winter right away and make him suffer for his past actions. Dish out proper punishment, but what would be the right thing to do to Winter?

Blue believed that Winter deserved to be punished for his actions. He deserved to regret them in a way that would cause him physical and mental turmoil.

Yet, there was another large part of Blue that wanted to defend Winter. Wanted to believe that he had valid reasons for his actions and supported Winter, despite knowing the truth.

Blue hated that part. Hated that he was so in love with Winter that he was somehow willing to turn a blind eye to his cruel flaws.

And there was also another part of him. It was small, but still there. That was the part of Blue that was afraid. Terrified, even. Scared that Winter wasn’t a changed man like he had said.

What if Winter did the same thing he did to Kendall to him? What if all the years they’ve spent together had just been a lie to get Blue to senselessly fall for him?

What if the proposal was a lie? What if Winter abandoned him with the child? What if Winter didn’t love him?

Blue used his palms to cover his face.

He had never doubted Winter so much in the entire time they’ve been together. He’d never been this afraid that being with Winter was a wrong decision.

Here Blue was, rethinking his entire life. Rethinking his future. Rethinking the new life in his belly. All because of Winter’s past.

But would things have been better if he had chosen to remain in the dark?

Bright and early the next morning, Blue woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone so he lowered the volume of his phone without looking at the screen and sank his head back into his soft pillow.

The phone continued to vibrate without the sound of the ringtone. The vibration was even more annoying.

"Fuck!" Blue cussed out in frustration, then picked up his phone.

Winter’s name flashed as the caller’s ID on the screen, causing Blue’s stomach to churn.

He let the phone vibrate in his hand and didn’t make any attempt to answer the call. Winter called again.

Blue’s thumb trembled. He was already letting Winter’s past come in between their relationship. Just like Kendall had feared.

Blue sucked in a deep breath through his nose and exhaled through his mouth. He accepted the call and placed it on loudspeaker.

"Hello, good morning," Winter’s smooth voice echoed from the speaker.

"Hi..." Blue said, barely audible.

"I woke you up, didn’t I? Sorry for that. I wanted to ask if you were free this evening," Winter cut straight to the chase.

Blue’s brows furrowed.

"Free for what?"

"A date. I want to hang out with you. Woulda wanted a lunch date but I’m working then. Would you be free at 7-ish?" Winter said.

Blue frowned. Winter should know his schedule by now, and should know that Blue did absolutely nothing from dusk to dawn every day.

What was he trying to get at by asking him out on a date?

"I’m free, but I don’t feel like going out," Blue indirectly turned Winter’s offer down.

"If you want, it can be indoors. I just want to spend time with you... and tell you something important."

"Tell me what?" Blue quickly sat up on the bed as he heard that sentence, his heart beating rapidly.

"Can’t tell you over the phone, hehe. So, you’re free, right?" Winter spoke with a hint of amusement in his tone.

Blue glanced at the ceiling above him and thought for a second. What did Winter want to tell him? Did he want to apologize for lying the other day? Or did he want to confess his sins? Or was it just his usual randomness where he just wanted to spend time with Blue and spew nonsense?

"Hmm," Blue agreed with a hum.

"Nice! I’ll be home around 7. Love you!" Winter said, sounding like he was a married man.

A bile formed in Blue’s throat as he searched for a response to come up with.

"Just say, ’love you too’. It’s not that hard." Winter laughed from the other end of the phone.

Even though Winter couldn’t see him, Blue forced a fake smile on his face as he said, "L-Love you... too."

"See? That was easy. Bye, anyway." Winter terminated the call after that and Blue was left to face an internal battle.

How could Winter, who was always so nice and stupid towards him, do such vile and cruel things to other people?
