Chapter 140: 138 | Obsessive Attachment

"I mean, do you still like Winter?" Blue changed his words as he noticed the look of horror that flashed on Kendall’s first when he asked the first time.

"No! Of course, I don’t. Why would I?" Kendall reacted explosively, waving an X with his hands as he spoke.

Blue sighed, but was a bit unsure and still had to ask, "Really?"

Kendall rolled his eyes and said, "I don’t like Winter anymore. Heck, I’m not even sure I liked him then. You don’t have to worry about me being that kind of person who sabotages their ex’s present relationship because of some obsessive attachment they have with them."

Blue narrowed his eyes. That was some awfully descriptive instance.

"I’m serious! Don’t look at me like that!" Kendall said, trying to prove his innocence.

Blue watched him for a while before he turned away, choosing to believe that Kendall didn’t like Winter and wasn’t that kind of person.

At least, that cleared away one of his worries.

"Is that the only thing you wanted to ask?" Kendall said after a moment silently passed.

Blue shook his head negatively.

"Well... I know I gave you shit the other time you offered, but I don’t know why I’m feeling whatever I’m feeling. But I know that maybe if I get a better understanding of things, I won’t feel this way anymore." Blue said.

Kendall wanted to ask Blue what he was feeling but Blue continued speaking before he even got the chance to open his mouth.

"C-Can you tell me what happened? Between you and Winter." Blue almost stammered.

Kendall blinked.

"I thought you said–"

"Forget about what I said. I’m an idiot. Just tell me, please," Blue actually spoke with a very desperate tone after cutting Kendall off abruptly.

However, Kendall began to shake his head slowly.

"I just told you that I’m not that kind of person who ruins the relationship of their ex because of an obsessive attachment to them. That time I wanted to tell you about the last was because I didn’t understand the kind of relationship you have with Winter,"

"I think I understand it better now, that’s why I don’t want to tell you anything about the past anymore. As you said, Winter is a changed person. I don’t want to make you feel like the Winter you know now is nothing but a fake." Kendall explained sincerely.

Blue wasn’t having any of it.

"I know what you’re saying. I understand what you mean, but I have to know. My curiosity is killing me. Being left in the dark is annoying. I just want to know, please." Blue said.

"Why can’t you ask Winter to tell you himself?" Kendall countered.

Blue tightened his fists and locked his jaw.

No way. He couldn’t ask Winter. Not only would it make it seem like he had a problem with Winter’s past—which he obviously did—there was also a small possibility that Winter would lie to him.

As much as Blue loved Winter, the little distrust that Winter had planted in his heart by lying to him was taking strong root and would always make him second-guess the sincerity of Winter’s words.

"I don’t want to. Because he doesn’t have to open up his secret shame to me," Blue answered Kendall’s question quietly.

Blue never really opened up about his past to Winter, but it wasn’t like Winter didn’t know. It was too shameful for Blue to tell Winter with his own mouth the things that he went through and did to survive in his youth.

Blue knew that it would be the same for Winter. Winter must be too ashamed to tell him. And besides, it shouldn’t matter whose mouth the truth of the past was coming out from.

As long as Blue knew it, his curiosity would be sated. And maybe he would understand Winter better.

"Blue, but I have to be honest with you. I don’t want to cause a problem for you and Winter," Kendall, sounding like he was already worn down by Blue.

"You won’t," Blue reassured him.

There was still a skeptical look on Kendall’s face as he said, "There’s nothing really much for me to say now that it’s been years and my memory is not as fresh as it used to be. But I’ll try my best to get you to understand what I’m about to tell you."

Blue nodded. Kendall continued.

***

If Kendall was able to remember properly, he had first met Winter when he was they were both still in junior high. At that time, everyone wanted to be Winter or be with Winter.

He was the only dominant alpha in the entire school. He was also the richest student. His parents were basically the owners of the school with the amount of money they plunged into it every year.

Winter was the kind of person that was always in front. Front seat, front page of the school magazine, front and captain of the sports team, front in line for every queue.

And as for Kendall, he could be found anywhere that was not at the front, most especially at the back of things. Heck, even his grades were struggling to make it to the center.

It was weird that someone like him got involved with someone like Winter.

It happened because he’d stumbled upon what he wasn’t supposed to. He’d gotten a whiff of Winter’s famed but never smelt pheromones.

The dominant alpha pheromones that everyone knew Winter kept in check no matter what.

Kendall was only able to get a whiff of Winter’s pheromones because he’d met Winter in his rut. It was at a rundown hotel where Kendall worked a shift cause he was kinda poor at the time.

Winter had mistaken him to be the omega he called for help and had kissed him. Before they went any further, he’d kicked Winter and found a way to escape.

At that time, Kendall had even felt bad for Winter because a rut was able to make Winter lower his standard and kiss someone like him. But he’d quickly gotten over it, believing that Winter would forget about him and that they’d never have to cross paths again.

How wrong he was.
