Chapter 999: 018 Should we be together?

A month later, Avery Graham’s life became even busier. The new store was decorated and ready, and it took Avery three days to move everything and everyone from the old location to the new one.

In order to better promote herself, as well as to create more and improved products, Avery devoted all her energy to maintaining and developing new products.

She knew that, no matter the industry, one needs to continue learning in order to make progress, so after she got the second store on track, she embarked on a new path of learning.

Through Moments, Avery learned about a tourist attraction called Neva Village, where an old woman made pancakes that were said to be delicious. So many people came just to try them that the old woman only made a thousand a day. Because they were limited in quantity, they were even more sought after, and although many wanted to learn from the old woman, she would only teach those she took a liking to, rejecting others outright.

Avery also wanted to learn. No cake master in G City had thought to learn how to make these pancakes. However, Avery knew that many people from G City who visited Neva Village raved about the old woman’s pancakes.

Therefore, she decided to learn how to make them. If they really tasted that good, she could just include them in her Cake Shop as they were. If customers ever grew tired of them, she could add her own twist. The goal was always to keep the customers coming back.

Bernard Taylor found out that Avery was going to Neva Village for a while by chance when he went to visit her at her place.

They had both been very busy for more than a month. He had just taken over the Taylor Family business, and Avery was busy with the new branch opening, revamping the original Cake Shop, and developing new products every day. She was also constantly searching for any piece of relevant information. So, aside from necessary moments, Bernard hadn’t gone to see her.

Today, he had come to let her know that she had saved up nearly enough money. He had asked a friend in Real Estate to help him find Avery a small villa, knowing that she wanted to bring her parents to live with her. This new villa was ready for occupancy. Because of his connections, he got a discount on the property that others couldn’t get even at 80%, making it an extremely good deal.

Avery’s savings, combined with the sale of her parents’ current home, meant they had just enough to pay in full. As for renovations, he planned to lend Avery some money first, so she could get them done. Later on, when they were splitting profits, he would take a bit more as a way for Avery to repay him gradually.

He believed that Avery, with her sharp business and investment acumen, would understand this deal, and considering the 30% discount on the villa, which wouldn’t last forever, he thought she wouldn’t refuse. So he brought the information about the house to her.

When he arrived, Avery welcomed him inside, where he saw her packing two large suitcases, looking like she was about to travel a long distance. Bernard’s expression changed instantly, "Where are you going?"

In recent times, he hadn’t pressured her about anything. In fact, he hadn’t even brought up their personal issues again. So what was Avery planning? Was she considering running away from him?

"..." Avery noticed Bernard seemed a bit angry as she glanced at her luggage on the living room floor. She started to explain, "Oh, it’s like this—I’m planning to go to Neva Village for three months to learn how to make pancakes from an old lady named Hua."

"..." Bernard looked at her silently. Was she really just going to study, rather than planning to leave G City? He wasn’t sure why he felt so insecure. Perhaps it was because he was still waiting for a commitment from Avery.

"By the way, it seems you don’t use Whatsapp, right? Many travel buddies on my Whatsapp have been talking about that old lady, so I’ve had this idea for a while. It was just that the second shop had just started, and I needed to put some effort into it. Now that the shop is on the right track and the shop manager is quite capable, I can take some time off to learn. I’ve always enjoyed creating things, and innovation is essential for the survival of the Cake Shop," Avery explained thoroughly. "Besides, it used to be just me, and whether I earned more or less was my own business. Now it’s different, since you chose to invest in me, I need to be responsible for you, right?"

"..." Bernard suddenly looked up. To be responsible for him—could he interpret these words in another way?
