"Hello," Avery’s tone was indifferent, reflecting her current feelings toward Michael Auclair.

"Avery, don’t celebrate too soon. I’m telling you, sooner or later, I will make you pay for the humiliation you made me suffer today." It turned out that the call wasn’t from Michael Auclair, but from Jollie Auclair. She had apologized, but deep down, she couldn’t swallow her pride. After hanging up, Avery immediately added Michael’s number to the blacklist, so even if he called again in the future, there wouldn’t be a need to answer.

After taking a bath, what Avery didn’t know was that Michael came out of the bathroom and saw Jollie spacing out with his cell phone. He wrapped up in a towel and over, and upon checking his phone, he saw that the first number in the call log that Jollie hadn’t managed to delete was Avery’s.

"I just can’t let it go, just a warning to her." Actually, Jollie knew she couldn’t really do anything because Adelle Turner had specifically inquired about Bernard Taylor. That’s when Jollie realized the high profile of the Bernard Taylor Avery knew, and how unreachable he was for the Auclair Family.

Avery is really lucky to know someone like him; it irked Jollie beyond measure to see Avery so brazen. Hence, even if she couldn’t actually do anything, at least venting felt good.

That’s what Jollie thought, but she hadn’t expected Michael to get so angry over it.

"Have you lost your mind? Haven’t I told you not to provoke her, not to provoke Bernard and the rest?" Michael had fully realized that he was no match for Bernard Taylor.

The money Bernard gave him was just pocket change to him, yet to Michael Auclair, it was a substantial sum. He knew he was earning this money and should play by the rules, unless he had refused the money right from the start.

"I didn’t provoke her; I just vented a little. Why are you so nervous? Big Brother, I just don’t understand. Sister Adelle is so good to you, her family even offered me a job, and you’re still thinking about that woman Avery and won’t acknowledge Sister Adelle as your girlfriend. I tell you, now that Avery has climbed up to Bernard Taylor, she will never look back at you. Don’t be foolish..."

Jollie hadn’t finished speaking when Michael slapped her across the face.

Jollie was dazed and looked at Michael incredulously. It wasn’t the first time her big brother had been so violent with her; in the past, he would never have dreamed of treating her this way. "Brother, you—"

"I’m telling you, resign from the Turner’s supermarket immediately, and while your school registration is still valid, go back and study. Take the university entrance exams and enroll in an ordinary Teacher’s University. Just be a teacher in your hometown afterwards and forget about making it in the big city, got it?" Michael, filled with regret, didn’t apologize, but instead, he didn’t want his sister to follow Adelle Turner any longer.

Now, he realized Adelle’s influence on his sister was too profound. Jollie’s admiration for Adelle brought her no good at all.

On the contrary, it was Avery who, during her days with his family, hadn’t indulged every whim of Jollie, but he knew that Avery genuinely wanted to be kind to his sister and his parents out of consideration for him.
