Chapter 997: 017 Jollie Auclair Apologies_6
The family went out to a restaurant, happy and content. Giselle Browman was also very happy. Since Avery Graham had to drive, it was Giselle who kept Avery’s father company and made sure he had a good time drinking wine before heading home cheerfully.
After the meal, Avery and Giselle Browman first took their parents home and then they went back to the place they were renting. Giselle Browman, looking at the radiant Avery, asked, "Sis, when can I start calling Mr. Taylor ’brother-in-law’?"
"What are you talking about? My aunt just warned me today not to rush into another relationship so soon." Avery was speechless. It seemed Giselle thought about having a dependable supporter every single day.
"What? Did my aunt really say that? Didn’t she see what kind of car Mr. Taylor drove today? Let me tell you, my aunt knows luxury cars better than both you and me." So, how could her aunt, being the person she was, not push her sister toward Bernard Taylor after seeing the car he drove?
Of course, the answer was obviously yes. Which mother doesn’t want their daughter to marry a wealthy man, especially her aunt? Yet instead of supporting, her aunt was preventing, which made Giselle utterly disbelieving.
"She was poisoned by Michael Auclair. As soon as she heard that Bernard Taylor was your superior, she wasn’t happy." After all, being her own mother, Avery knew what she was thinking.
"What?" Giselle Browman was shocked. "Can Michael Auclair even compare to Mr. Taylor? They’re like heaven and earth, okay? Sis, you’re not rejecting Mr. Taylor for the same reason, are you?"
"What benefits has Bernard Taylor given you to make you speak so highly of him? He’s just given you a job. My sister is so outstanding and capable, she can find a great job anywhere. So, could you please not fawn over him so much?" Avery gave Giselle Browman a glance. That girl was just too practical.
But being practical was better, certainly much better than someone like Jollie Auclair.
"I’m not being a sycophant, it’s genuine admiration. I’ve always thought Bernard Taylor was quite nice, but since Michael Auclair was my superior, I didn’t dare to say anything bad about him. The way I acted around Michael Auclair, now that I think about it, wasn’t worth it." The thought of Michael Auclair still made Giselle Browman furious.
"Enough, that’s all in the past. Let’s not talk about it anymore, huh." Avery didn’t want to talk about Michael Auclair anymore.
"Right, I heard from Mr. Taylor that his sister came to apologize to you today? I actually wanted to come along and see, but then our department manager grabbed me to fill the ranks. I feel like at the Taylors’, I can literally become a ’tough girl’ at any moment." Giselle Browman said gloomily, uncertain whether it was her good luck or Bernard Taylor’s favor that landed her in the best team of the sales department, where neither her team nor her department manager treated her as a woman.
"There wasn’t much to see, just a simple ’sorry.’ To be honest, I didn’t look forward to her apology at all. As long as she doesn’t bother me in the future, that’s all that matters. We’ll just mind our own business." Avery wasn’t really bothered by Jollie Auclair.
Bernard Taylor had just been too persistent this time.
"Just thinking about that scene makes me feel so relieved. And I still want to curse Michael Auclair and Adelle Turner so they don’t have a single happy day ahead." Thinking about Michael Auclair cheating on Avery with Adelle Turner during their relationship, Giselle Browman was angry. Although she also felt grateful to Michael Auclair and Adelle Turner since their affair made it possible for Avery to decisively dump him.
Still, thinking about the humiliation Avery suffered made her heart burn with indignation.
"If someone who didn’t know better heard you, they’d think you were the one who got dumped." Avery gave her a look before heading to her bedroom to gather clothes for a shower.
"Ah, right, I got carried away today. I have a project that needs finishing. Sis, I’m going to my room." Giselle Browman suddenly cried out. Avery watched her enter her room, and then Giselle Browman’s phone rang. All that could be heard was Giselle Browman speaking in an extremely apologetic tone to the person on the other end, promising to turn on her computer right away.
Avery shook her head as she walked into her room.
Just as she laid out her change of clothes, her phone began to ring. She guessed it was Bernard Taylor but was surprised to see that the caller ID showed Michael Auclair, which brought on an unexpected sense of slight disappointment.
In the end, she answered Michael Auclair’s call anyway.
