Chapter 990: 016 Indirect Confession_6
"I was just kidding, get in the car," Avery Graham chuckled, easing the awkward atmosphere from before.
"Were you busy this afternoon?" Knowing her Cake Shop was doing well, he made a call earlier but didn’t call again.
"Not really, I didn’t do much today, just lazied around the whole day," Avery answered honestly. Indeed, she did nothing but zone out in the Resting Room and laze away the time.
"?" He was puzzled that she lazed around but didn’t answer his calls, "Were your relatives visiting today?"
Both having a medical background, their conversations about physiological issues were quite direct. Previously, when Avery’s relatives visited, she outright asked Bernard Taylor not to bother her. During those days, she would indeed be particularly lethargic and truly not fond of moving.
Eventually, Bernard started to proactively have other nurses help her during those days, even arranging for her to take a couple of days off.
"...It’s your relatives who visited," Avery said loudly, realizing she was blushing easily now, something that never happened in Bernard Taylor’s presence before.
Avery didn’t want to talk anymore. After Bernard remained silent with a smile, she drove him back with a frown on her face.
"You better guide me," Avery said while driving, reminding him that she had never been to Bernard’s house and didn’t know the way.
Bernard wasn’t annoyed and patiently gave directions.
After half an hour, Avery reached the Taylor Family’s villa, and it was indeed beautifully decorated, even the decorations at the gate were more luxurious than those of other houses.
Jacob Taylor and Nancy Sallow were walking back inside the Villa District when they saw Bernard get out of Avery’s car. Nancy hurried over and enthusiastically invited Avery inside, "Avery, we thought Bernard drank wine, thanks for bringing him back. Since you’re here, why don’t you come in and sit for a bit? Is this your first time here?"
"Auntie, hello," Avery greeted Nancy Sallow and declined the invitation, "No, it’s really getting late, I have to rush back. I need to open early tomorrow."
She was already late today, and if she were late again tomorrow, she would indeed be laughed at by her staff.
"It’s only nine o’clock, just stay until nine-thirty. I’ll have the driver take you later," Nancy insisted, even half an hour would be great, she wanted Avery to come in at any cost.
"..." Avery was somewhat embarrassed; driving there wasn’t an issue, she could stay until nine-thirty, but she was worried that once inside they might find various excuses to keep her until very late. She was a bit scared of driving at night, especially since there was part of the road where few people passed by, and the last thing she wanted was to encounter criminals lurking around.
"..." Bernard had no intention of speaking up for Avery. On the other hand, he was quite curious when Nancy Sallow had become so enthusiastic about Avery. Could it be that his mother had not listened to him and sought Avery out herself?
Avery had not mentioned this to him.
"Come on, come on, get out of the car, you’re at our doorstep, it makes no sense not to come in and sit for a while, your name is Avery, right?" Jacob Taylor approached with a steady pace, calmly taking his wife’s side, persuading Avery.
"Uncle, hello," Avery had no choice but to park her car at the entrance of their house and then get out.
"Hello, hello, come on, let’s go inside and sit. Thanks for bringing our Bernard back, huh? This kid, I don’t know where he went to drink," Jacob Taylor laughed heartily.
"Of course, they were together, silly," Nancy Sallow glanced at Avery. They must have been together for dinner this evening. Anyway, in this period, Bernard had undergone major changes, becoming much warmer. A son like that was normal.
"That’s true," Jacob Taylor said, chuckling.
Bernard glanced at his parents, who could only be described as treasures, without saying much. After all, they had managed to keep Avery here, even if just for a half hour extra. It had the feeling that he was bringing Avery to meet the patriarch, and his parents seemed quite pleased with her.
Well, next, he probably should start thinking about how to legitimately introduce himself to Avery’s parents and make a good impression. If he could win over the people by Avery’s side first, securing her affections would likely follow, especially since she was about to move out of the transitional phase.
