Chapter 991: 016 Indirect Confession_7

Avery Graham had no idea what was on someone’s mind and just entered the Taylor Family mansion, which was even more lavishly decorated. Avery guessed that the money spent on decorating this place probably cost more than the villa itself.

Well, it made sense. People who could afford villas naturally wanted to beautify their homes to live comfortably.

After entering, Nancy Sallow had someone serve the stewed rock sugar bird’s nest and insisted that Avery have a bowl.

Avery accepted it, thankfully not having eaten much that evening, focused more on chatting, otherwise, this bowl would have definitely caused her to overeat.

Jacob Taylor and Nancy Sallow just chatted with Avery, and when Avery thought about Nancy obtaining a membership card at her Cake Shop, she said, "Auntie, your membership card is ready, when would you like to come pick it up?"

"Oh, just grab it for Bernard Taylor and have him bring it back to me. I’ve been a bit busy these days, sorry about that," Nancy said with a smile.

Bernard Taylor, sitting to the side, noticeably twitched at the corner of his mouth; he knew this was Nancy’s way of giving them a chance to be alone, but the opportunity seemed a bit too blatant.

"Of course." Avery nodded.

"Both your son and you have recharged at Avery’s Cake Shop, should I get a membership card as well?" Jacob Taylor said this on purpose, knowing his wife’s intention and his son’s thoughts. As a husband and a father, he naturally had to contribute, too.

Avery felt like she had three black lines on the back of her head, "There’s no need, Uncle. Auntie has a membership card and recharged ten thousand yuan. It should last a good long while."

"Is that so? I feel with our family’s size, ten thousand yuan won’t last very long," Jacob Taylor obviously felt that amount was too little.

"Exactly, exactly, no worries, we can recharge more later," Nancy also nodded in agreement.

Okay, Avery could only respond without words; she decided to remain silent.

"It’s getting late, I’ll walk you out. Drive slowly on your own," Bernard Taylor stood up, finally helping Avery out of the awkward situation.

"Yes, I understand." Avery nodded and readily agreed, indeed feeling a bit restless.

Rarely seeing Avery so compliant in front of him, Bernard Taylor almost reached out to touch her head, but because his parents were there, he refrained from doing so in the end.

After saying goodbye to Jacob Taylor and Nancy Sallow, Avery followed closely behind Bernard Taylor’s steps and walked outside.

Once they were out, Bernard Taylor laughed, "They used to be silly, and I have no idea when they reverted to that. Were you scared?"

"Not scared, it’s actually quite nice." Avery shook her head and looked up to see Bernard Taylor’s smile, "Huh, I’ve noticed you’ve been smiling a lot lately. Have you encountered something happy?"

"..." Bernard Taylor paused for a moment, then reached out and flicked her smooth forehead, "The happy event is being able to face me so calmly; that makes me very happy. My laughter has to do with you and has nothing to do with anyone else, understand?"

"Oh." Possibly stunned by Bernard Taylor’s flick, Avery just uttered an "Oh" in confusion.

Suddenly, Bernard Taylor couldn’t hold back any longer, he reached out with both hands, pulled her into his embrace, and hugged her tightly. He had wanted to do this earlier but had restrained himself until now, "Avery, you said you wanted a transition, I gave you a transition, but I am not getting any younger. I hope you won’t make me wait too long."

"?" Avery looked confused, unmoving and utterly without reaction.

She actually understood Bernard Taylor’s intentions, but she thought he would confess more directly, not like this.

But she truly didn’t know how to respond at the moment. If she agreed to be with him right away, would that make her appear too frivolous, especially since her relationship with Michael Auclair had only just ended?

"Alright, go back. Tomorrow, I’ll come to your shop for breakfast. I want to drink the coffee you make. You were late today," Bernard Taylor said, not minding her expression.

Not pushing him away directly, he was already very grateful.

"Yes, I overslept. Goodbye, I’m leaving now," Avery acknowledged with a nod.

Avery got into the car and drove away, with Bernard Taylor watching her leave, only turning back to walk inside after she was out of sight.

Just as she left the villa entrance, Avery’s phone rang. It was Carolline Ruiz, who had managed to call now that she was in bed, with Bryan Hawkins in the restroom taking a shower.

"Carolline, what’s up?" Avery answered the phone, curious as to why her friend called so soon after they’d parted—did Carolline miss her that much?

"I just wanted to tell you, now that you’ve broken up with Michael Auclair, you should grab hold of Bernard Taylor, be with him, and don’t let go this time. He truly is a good man," Carolline didn’t feel any regret about Avery’s breakup with Michael Auclair, as initially, she thought it would be due to their family issues, not expecting Michael to dig his own grave like that.

In fact, that made Avery’s breakup seem all the more justified.

"I understand, I will think about it carefully," Avery knew that Carolline truly had her best interests at heart.

"You understand?" Carolline questioned, confused by her response. Had she not understood? It really seemed true what they say: pregnancy makes you dumb for three years.

"Bernard Taylor indirectly confessed to me just now." He said he didn’t want to wait too long, so that must have been an indirect confession, right? A direct one would be, ’Avery, I like you; will you be with me?’

Carolline: "..."
