"..." Avery Graham looked at the fast food in her hand. "Actually, I came here today to talk to you about Bernard’s past. If you’re not busy, of course. If you’re worried about the store, we can do this another time," Nancy Sallow showed considerable respect for Avery.

Avery was momentarily stunned before saying, "It’s fine, Auntie. Go ahead. I don’t need to be at the store until four in the afternoon."
