Chapter 964: 012 Blurted Out_4
Michael Auclair had only heard from his sister that Adelle Turner was coming, so he went out to see, and then by coincidence, overheard Avery Graham speaking so calmly to Adelle, urging her to be with him.
It was only after the fact that Avery Graham realized the atmosphere was somewhat different, and Giselle Browman did too. Quickly, both followed Adelle’s gaze and saw Michael standing there.
Michael’s expression was truly unsightly, and Giselle thought he deserved it. Avery, however, faced the situation with complete composure.
"You’re here for dinner too?" Michael spoke up, and Giselle had to suppress her disgust to avoid vomiting outright. She couldn’t fathom why Michael could be so shamelessly calm at this moment.
Of course, whether Michael felt calm inside was something they could not know.
"Mhm." Avery nodded.
"If you all know each other, we also offer the service of combining tables," the waiter came over and suggested, seeing the four of them standing in the doorway, which was not really ideal.
"We won’t be sharing a table. Let’s go, Sister, let’s stick to our own meal. Even though some people here turn our stomachs, thankfully, the chef here is skilled. So, despite these unpleasant encounters, we can still enjoy the delicious steaks," said Giselle, pulling Avery away.
In the end, Michael didn’t stop them. Adelle quietly stood beside Michael, just watching.
As Giselle and Avery made their way to the Grand Hall, they saw Jollie Auclair and their mother. The moment Jollie saw Avery, her expression changed. How come this woman is here too? Did Big Brother inform her?
Mrs. Auclair, seeing Avery, smiled warmly, "Avery, you’re here? I thought so. Come, sit with us."
"No, Auntie, I’m here to dine with my sister. We’ll be fine in that corner over there. Enjoy your meal," responded Avery politely to Jollie’s mother. She turned to leave with Giselle, but then thought it over and seemed to decide that Jollie’s mother deserved to know the truth, "Oh, by the way, Auntie, Michael and I have broken up, so I’m not his girlfriend anymore."
Mrs. Auclair’s face went white at once. They really had broken up. She had, at first, thought Jollie was joking, but it turned out to be true. She quickly stepped forward, "Avery, did Michael do something wrong? Tell me, I’ll scold him for you."
Auntie, it’s no use scolding him. A man who messes around with another woman despite having a girlfriend is not someone we can tolerate," Giselle spoke out quickly, not mincing her words.
Avery wanted to intervene but couldn’t stop Giselle in time. She looked at Mrs. Auclair, embarrassed, "Auntie, I’m sorry, my sister is quite direct. Don’t take it to heart. Matters of the heart are complicated. It’s okay. We’re probably just not right for each other."
"Direct? That’s rather harsh to hear, isn’t it?" Jollie finally spoke. She wasn’t sure whether her brother had received the message from Adelle Turner, but since the two hadn’t arrived yet and she couldn’t allow her mother to be bullied, she chimed in.
"Harsh? You’re ashamed to hear it, but not to do it?" Giselle was not one to hold her tongue. Jollie came off as the type of woman who lacked shame, while Mrs. Auclair still seemed to grasp a sense of shame.
That’s Michael’s sister, thought Avery. A mother who knows shame, and yet she bore such an odd pair of siblings, a truly curious thing.
"You..." Jollie was not prepared for Giselle’s sharp tongue, and as she was about to retort, Mrs. Auclair glared at Michael and Adelle as they approached, "Michael, come here."
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Michael, seeing Avery, Giselle, and Jollie, noticed none had a pleasant expression. Something unpleasant must have occurred among them. He looked at Avery, then back to his mother.
"I’m asking you, while you were with Avery, which little vixen were you entangled with? Is it her?" Mrs. Auclair pointed at Adelle standing aside.
"Mom, Adelle is not a vixen. She actually knew Big Brother before Avery did," Jollie immediately defended Adelle.
"Shut your mouth," Mrs. Auclair was truly angry now, snapping at her daughter, drawing the attention of all the customers in the Grand Hall with her shout, "How did I teach you two as children? I always said people must have a sense of shame. Once a person loses that, it’s terrifying. But both of you... you’ve greatly disappointed me. I won’t be eating this meal, and let me tell you, Michael, if you let that vixen through our door, I no longer have a son like you."
