Chapter 958: 011 Avery, let’s break up (second update)_3

"Don’t mention it, Auntie, there’s no need for us to be so formal with each other," Avery Graham said with a smile.

It was only then that Jollie Auclair’s mother nodded in agreement, while Jollie Auclair herself didn’t mind at all. She always felt there was no need for such formalities. With her Big Brother being so outstanding, there were plenty of women chasing after him. If her Big Brother took a liking to Avery Graham, it would be Avery’s good fortune.

So, was it not right for Avery Graham to be nice to her future mother-in-law and sister-in-law?

The fast food was quickly delivered, a three-course premium combo costing a total of one hundred and eight. Avery paid for it, and Jollie Auclair’s mother was astounded by the price, remarking that back in their town, that amount of money could feed a family for several days.

Seeing this, Jollie Auclair rolled her eyes again, "Mom, can you not embarrass us like this?"

"How am I embarrassing us? Life in the big city isn’t easy, and you still don’t believe it. With nothing to your name, what kind of good job do you think you can find here?" her mother scolded Jollie.

She really couldn’t understand what her daughter was thinking. Previously, when they didn’t allow her to redo her final school year, telling her that attending just any university would be fine, Jollie insisted on getting into G University. Now, after managing to get in and even paying the tuition fees, she suddenly didn’t want to repeat the year and whimsically decided to move to G City to find work.

In today’s world where graduate and university students were a dime a dozen, what employment advantage would a high school graduate have? But Jollie Auclair simply wouldn’t listen to her mother and insisted on coming here, saying that with her Big Brother and future sister-in-law here, there was nothing to worry about. Avery would surely help her find a great job.

Jollie Auclair’s mother wanted to say that even Avery had a hard time establishing herself in the city, and that they really shouldn’t bother Avery like this. But Jollie didn’t listen to any persuasion, went to the school to declare she wouldn’t be repeating the year, and then started packing at home, preparing to head to G City alone. Concerned that Jollie might trouble Avery, and feeling uneasy, she followed her.

Avery brought over the food and overheard the mother-daughter conversation, realizing that Jollie didn’t want to repeat the school year and was planning to work in G City instead.

She really believed that she, Avery Graham, was someone of importance here, that with her current qualifications and highbrow-lowbrow capacities, she could find a satisfactory job for someone like Jollie?

Avery remained silent, acting as though she had heard nothing. Dealing with someone like Jollie Auclair, she had her own plans. "Auntie, Jollie, come and eat. I’m not sure if you’ll like it, but the chef at this fast-food restaurant does a pretty good job with the flavor," she said.

"Wow, what a feast," Jollie Auclair exclaimed as she opened the box. The boxed meals they used to eat had one meat dish and one vegetable dish, but this premium combo here actually had three meat and two vegetable dishes. Everything looked so attractive and appetizing.

"Glad you like it," Avery said with a smile as she picked up the fast-food containers and headed toward the kitchen, "You guys start eating, I’m going to go grind some coffee beans and make you a taste of our coffee later."

"No need for that, Avery, really, it’s too much trouble," Jollie’s mother quickly interjected, feeling very embarrassed for accepting such an expensive meal from Avery.

"It’s no trouble at all, Auntie. Since you’re here, you might as well try it. I’m going to bake some egg tarts later, you can try them together with the coffee," Avery said with a smile.

Jollie Auclair simply watched Avery, not saying much, satisfied with Avery’s demeanor.

Once Avery had finished prepping, she came back out to find Jollie had already eaten half of the fast food from the box. "Sister Avery, your cake shop is so big, what do you say about me coming over to help out, would that be alright?"

"We have enough staff here, and my shop isn’t really that big. We’re fully staffed already and don’t need to add more people at the moment," Avery directly refused. Although she was easy to talk to, she was no fool, so she definitely wouldn’t force herself to work with someone she was uncomfortable with.

Having to work with Jollie Auclair in the same space would surely put her in a bad mood. Plus, she felt that if Jollie Auclair actually came to work at her cake shop, there would never be a moment of peace.

"No way? Sister Avery, you’re the boss. Is it really that difficult to fit me in?" Jollie’s expression darkened immediately, believing that Avery would not reject her.

Like that Adelle Turner, back then she was so complaisant towards her, accepting any condition she set. How come when it came to Avery, could she be so forthright in her refusal?
