Chapter 952: 010 Ugly Face_2

"Do I really need to go to this extent?" Adam Taylor muttered, knowing full-well that Bernard Taylor was a man of his word. Although Adam was Bernard’s older cousin, Bernard’s conduct and way of handling affairs had always been much more mature and steady than his own.

Bernard was only a few years younger than him, yet he was already the father of two children, with the oldest attending elementary school. Meanwhile, Bernard was still single, which really made Adam worry for him.

So, how could his aunt not be worried?

"It’s not about being competitive, I’m just going to meet someone, someone not related to the group," admitted Bernard truthfully. He certainly hadn’t scheduled a meeting with any clients or the like.

"..." Adam understood and left with Bernard, deciding to just go to the company canteen for a meal after all. He had actually hoped to talk Bernard into a finer meal.

Bernard drove straight to Michael Auclair’s company. Once he arrived at the company’s building, he called Giselle Browman directly. Giselle hadn’t saved Bernard’s number, so when he said he was Bernard on the phone...

Giselle was actually quite stunned for a moment, not knowing how Bernard got her number, but she didn’t flatter herself by thinking that Bernard had her number because of her.

"Bernard, what do you need me for?" Giselle was in line getting food when she heard Bernard’s voice, and she was quite surprised.

"I’m downstairs at your company. If it’s convenient for you, come down. I’ll treat you to a meal, and there’s something I’d like to discuss with you on the side." This was something he couldn’t tell Avery Graham, but he could tell Giselle.

The two sisters must trust each other, and he believed Giselle certainly wouldn’t side with Michael Auclair. Besides, the reason he was looking for Giselle today was that he had heard some things about her from his informant.

"...Okay, I’ll come down right away." Giselle paused for a moment before agreeing, setting down her serving utensils and heading straight for the company’s downstairs area.

As Giselle got into Bernard’s car, she automatically opened the back seat. Bernard didn’t say anything, and after she got in, he drove straight to a dining spot he had in mind from the morning.

They arrived at a rather luxurious Chinese Restaurant, where he ordered a table full of dishes. The two of them couldn’t possibly finish all the food, but since he was inviting Giselle, he felt it was better to be generous.

Giselle had an overwhelmed look about her, not understanding why she was so lucky today. In her eyes, Bernard was akin to a celestial being, untouchable by anyone except her sister, Avery.

"Help yourself," said Bernard, noticing her restraint. By saying this, he simply wanted to ease her tension.

"Hmm, Bernard, did you want to see me today because something’s up?" Giselle asked as she picked up a slice of Mixed Beef Salad to eat. The taste was exquisite; this restaurant was truly famous. Such Mixed Beef Salad with merely a dozen or so slices could sell for forty dollars.

And yet, there were plenty who would order it. This was the second time she ate this dish; the last time someone treated her to it was Michael Auclair, right after he had met her sister and expressed his wish to date her.

"Let’s eat first. Once we’re done, we can talk at leisure," Bernard replied, noting Giselle’s nervous demeanor. He wasn’t quite sure how to comfort her; in fact, he wished Michael Auclair would come to him on his own accord instead of being coerced like this.

He really disliked threatening others, but when the situation was urgent, he would still choose such measures.

"..." Left with no alternative, Giselle relented, guessing it probably wasn’t anything serious. If it were, Bernard would likely have brought it up quickly, not appeared so leisurely.

The two ate in silence, with Giselle feeling like she was trying her hardest, but there was simply too much food to finish.

Having eaten to the point of fullness, Bernard didn’t force himself and stopped eating after he was eighty percent full, putting aside his chopsticks. Seeing Bernard cease eating, Giselle did the same, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and said, "Okay, I’m done. Go ahead, Bernard."

Bernard checked his phone and saw no new messages or calls. Looking at Giselle, he asked directly, "Do you know about the situation between Michael Auclair and Adelle Turner?"

"..." Giselle was taken aback. Bernard knew about it, which meant he must be paying a lot of attention to her Sister Avery. But the issue had been clarified by Michael Auclair, though it truly was infuriating, particularly Adelle Turner’s actions. With some difficulty, she nodded, "Yes, I know."

"What do you think about the two of them?" Before deciding whether to show Giselle the photos, he needed to ascertain how Giselle really felt.
