Chapter 951: 010 Ugly Face

The following day, Bernard Taylor followed Jacob Taylor to the Taylor Group’s headquarters.

Jacob Taylor convened a board meeting on short notice and announced his decision. After receiving a copy of the partnership contract from the other party, the directors unanimously agreed with Jacob Taylor’s decision.

Bernard Taylor officially began his new job and got his new office room.

The Design Department Manager was the first to arrive at the CEO Office and asked if Bernard Taylor wanted to change the style of the office room, as every new ruler dislikes the style used by others before them, even if the predecessor was a relative. Everyone has their own unique style they prefer.

"No need to redesign it. Let’s keep it this way for now. If I need anything in the future, I’ll call you," Bernard Taylor said to the Design Department Manager as he put down the documents he was holding.

As a leader, no matter what you are doing, once someone comes in to report, you need to stop what you’re doing and give them your full attention. This mutual respect between people is irrespective of status or position.

"Alright, Director Taylor, then I’ll be leaving first," said the Design Department Manager, nodding and leaving Bernard Taylor’s office room.

No sooner had the man left than Bernard Taylor’s phone rang. It was a call from Mona Cervantes. He thought for a moment before picking it up. Her cheerful voice came through, "Bernard Taylor, I heard you’re back? Uncle Taylor is hosting a celebration banquet for you tonight. My father and I are both invited. Can I come over for lunch with you? My treat."

She had heard about it from her father, mainly about Jacob Taylor’s intention to have Bernard Taylor succeed him as the CEO. Jacob Taylor has spread the word far and wide, hosting a celebration banquet for Bernard Taylor that night, inviting many of his friends in the business world and collaborators.

"..." He thought Nancy Sallow had told her, but it turned out to be his father. He understood why his father did this, but his response to Mona Cervantes was direct, "I’m not free for lunch."

"...Then okay, it was inconsiderate of me. When you’re free, I’ll invite you out separately. Bernard Taylor, I just wanted to express my congratulations to you alone," Mona Cervantes said sincerely.

For Bernard Taylor, she was already starting to change herself. Her daily life no longer consisted of shopping and clubbing; instead, she spent every day learning in her father’s company. She knew that in the future Bernard Taylor would have to manage the family business, and she hoped that when she married him, she could be a wise and supportive partner, not a woman who lived off others every day.

"Really, it’s unnecessary," Bernard Taylor bluntly declined. "Miss Cervantes, I think I am not the ’good man’ you are looking for. You should know why I met with you before."

"Bernard Taylor, haven’t you said that you were willing to give it a try with me?" Mona Cervantes felt a bit pained. She knew Bernard Taylor didn’t like her, but she was willing to give it a shot.

No matter how long it takes, as long as Bernard Taylor was willing to give her a chance, she was willing to wait for him.

"That was just a way of deflecting, Miss Cervantes," Bernard Taylor said frankly. He was never good with words when it came to women. At that time, he wanted a girlfriend simply to make Avery Graham feel more comfortable.

"..." She understood, but she really liked him a lot, "Bernard Taylor, I think you know how much I like you, really a lot."

"Everybody has the right to like someone else, and I won’t stop you from liking me, but if you expect me to respond because you like me, I’m sorry, that won’t happen. I don’t feel guilty because of your feelings for me. Everyone has the right to dislike someone else, to not accept someone else’s affection, so your liking me won’t influence me in any way. That’s all I have to say, let’s leave it at that." Having said that, Bernard Taylor hung up the call.

"..." Mona Cervantes knew Bernard Taylor was direct, but she didn’t expect him to be so blunt.

Now that Bernard Taylor had made himself clear to this extent, what more could she say?

After hanging up on Mona Cervantes, Bernard Taylor worked even more diligently, right up until the time he prepared to have lunch. He had not received a call from Michael Auclair, but he was in no hurry.

At eleven-fifty, Adam Taylor ran into his office room, "Bernard Taylor, want to have lunch together?"

"No, thanks. I need to step out," Bernard Taylor said as he donned his coat, took his car keys, and left.
