Chapter 944: 008 Good get-togethers, good break-ups_3

Saving to the point of being somewhat harsh.

So, Avery Graham chose a mobile phone that Giselle Browman had taken a liking to at the time, paid for it, and even had it meticulously wrapped before heading home.

After taking a shower and changing clothes, it was about time for Giselle Browman to finish work, and sure enough, she came home on time to invite her to a hot pot dinner. Of course, what she didn’t expect was that Michael Auclair was also coming along.

She thought that Michael Auclair had a colleague who’d been promoted to the team leader and was treating to dinner, and as a leader, he should obviously be there to support the occasion. Instead, he had the nerve to come back and join the two sisters.

This man was quite loyal and righteous, and although she felt a little sorry for his colleague, Avery Graham was very pleased with Michael Auclair’s choice all the same.

The three of them went for what turned out to be a fairly happy and satisfying hot pot dinner. During the meal, Michael Auclair was somewhat cautious, but as the conversation between Giselle Browman and Avery Graham became more natural, he began to relax a bit from his slight tension.

Avery Graham was a bit slow to notice, but she still sensed that Michael Auclair was different than usual. However, she didn’t think too much about it and guessed that he probably felt a bit guilty because Giselle hadn’t become team leader.

"Michael, don’t take it to heart about Giselle not becoming team leader. After all, she hasn’t been with the company for very long, and there are many other people there who are older and more experienced than she is, right? If others thought that Giselle got the position because of the relationship between you and me, it wouldn’t be good for her. So, not being chosen this time is actually a good thing, isn’t it? Giselle."

Avery Graham was trying to console Michael Auclair as well as encourage Giselle Browman.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s right, brother-in-law, let’s just forget about this matter and not bring it up again," Giselle Browman nodded, talking about a different matter than the one Avery was referring to. Of course, Michael Auclair knew this.

"Alright, Giselle, here’s to you," Michael Auclair said with a smile, raising his glass to Giselle Browman.

Giselle Browman nodded; she just hoped the matter would truly be put to rest. Otherwise, by choosing to stand by him today, she’d really feel like she was letting down Sister Avery, who had been so good to her.

Seeing the two of them like this, Avery Graham smiled contentedly. What mattered most to her was that the incident hadn’t affected Giselle Browman.

After the hot pot meal, Michael Auclair drove the two sisters home. Along the way, his phone, set on silent, kept vibrating. He ignored it. When Avery invited him up for a coffee before he left, he excused himself, saying there was a bit of business to take care of at the office, and departed.

Neither Avery Graham nor Giselle Browman had any suspicions about him. After all, reaching his current position had required a lot of effort, and for a man with no family or background, making it in such a big city to where he was now was quite a feat.

"Ok then, drive carefully on the way," Avery Graham said with a laugh, and entered the residential area with Giselle Browman.

Michael Auclair watched them enter before driving away. Because he was focused on the road, he didn’t notice that a car had been following him from Avery Graham’s residential area.

He drove to a desolate stretch of road before taking out his continually buzzing phone. As expected, the calls were from Adelle Turner. Michael Auclair hung up right away, yet a second later, the woman called again.

Helplessly, as the constant vibration was affecting his mood for driving, he eventually answered. From the other end came Adelle Turner’s drunken voice, "Michael, where are you? I’m so drunk, and I feel terrible. Can you come pick me up and take me home, please?"

"Call your family," Michael Auclair said coldly before hanging up the phone.

"..." Listening to the dial tone on the phone, Adelle Turner felt a chill in her heart. She really hadn’t expected Michael Auclair to be this cold towards her.

But perhaps it wasn’t unexpected. Michael Auclair had never really liked her, had he?

Their relationship had always been about companionship in bed, never about emotions. Of course, she had feelings for him, but he had none for her.

After hanging up the phone this time, Michael Auclair turned off his phone and drove home in silence.

He parked his car in the residential area’s underground garage and realizing he didn’t have any groceries at home, he took the elevator down to the ground floor, then headed to the supermarket outside the residential area to buy some items.
