Chapter 923: 004 Officially Visiting_6
If she had thought before that Avery Graham wasn’t very fond of Michael Auclair, now she felt she might have been wrong. At least, from Avery Graham’s behavior tonight, she seemed quite happy.
Most importantly, the great-aunt and her husband were very satisfied with Michael Auclair.
"You’re thinking too far ahead," Avery Graham glanced at her. She hadn’t even planned when to get married yet.
This was just a meeting with parents, and besides, she didn’t know if she would get along with Michael Auclair’s parents. She heard that Michael Auclair had a sister, and from what others said, life with a sister-in-law could be quite difficult.
"How am I thinking too far ahead? Look at so many people on the street holding children and sporting big bellies. The era of the second child is here, sis, don’t fall behind," Giselle Browman rolled her eyes.
"Is this falling behind? Haven’t you seen there are also many who don’t have children? Who says you have to have kids after getting married?" Avery Graham was still looking up at the brilliant fireworks, unaware of when Michael Auclair had come up to her.
Giselle Browman looked at Michael Auclair’s expression and left with a smile.
Michael Auclair walked over and reached out to envelop Avery Graham in his arms. Her first instinct was to break free but Michael Auclair’s hands tightened just in time, "What’s wrong? Haven’t thought about marrying me yet, or don’t want to have kids for me?"
"..." When had he been eavesdropping on their conversation, Avery Graham frowned and explained, "Neither. I just think we are still young. Isn’t career the most important? Don’t you want to get promoted?"
"Hmm, marrying you, maybe I would get promoted faster," Michael Auclair said with a smile. He hadn’t thought this before, but now, he increasingly wanted to marry her sooner, "Avery, promise me, if you are satisfied with my parents, marry me soon, alright?"
"..." Avery Graham felt Michael Auclair was acting a bit strange today; he didn’t use to be like this, "Okay, I understand."
Michael Auclair smiled at her.
The fireworks were nearly over. Michael Auclair had saved two strings of firecrackers to set off at midnight to usher in the New Year with a new atmosphere.
Afterward, the three of them went upstairs, ate for a while longer, with many dishes warmed up in the microwave by Mrs. Graham for them to enjoy. Then, Avery Graham started playing with her Whatsapp on her phone.
During the New Year’s celebration, it was still necessary to send greetings to friends in her circle and to snatch up money in the new fun of the holidays.
At the stroke of midnight, amidst the continuous sound of firecrackers, Mrs. Graham was cooking Sweet Rice Dumplings at home, Mr. Graham and Michael Auclair went downstairs to set off fireworks, and Avery Graham and Giselle Browman helped to serve the Sweet Rice Dumplings.
"Avery, Michael seems like a good guy. Your dad just told me too, he’s quite satisfied. Why don’t you get married next year? As for buying a house, your father and I mentioned, we are willing to contribute some money. While we’re still able-bodied, you can have children, and we can help you look after them, what do you say?" Mrs. Graham wasn’t forcing her but rather discussing this reasonably with Avery Graham.
"...I understand, I’ll talk about it after I’ve met his parents. You’re satisfied with your son-in-law, but it’s not certain that his family will be satisfied with me as their future daughter-in-law," Avery Graham didn’t outright reject Michael Auclair.
She knew that at her age, if she delayed any longer, she wouldn’t mind, but her parents would definitely feel embarrassed.
Even for the sake of her parents, perhaps she should get married.
Who knows, if she decided to get married, Bernard Taylor might also settle down, and Nancy Sallow wouldn’t have to see her as a despicable person anymore.
Hmm, no matter how you look at it, there is some truth to it.
"My daughter is so wonderful, who wouldn’t be satisfied? Only a blind man wouldn’t be," Mrs. Graham, ever protective, naturally thought her own daughter was the best.
"Mom—" Upon hearing this, Avery Graham couldn’t help but step forward and hug Mrs. Graham’s neck.
This is mother and daughter. They might argue, but their affection for each other remains strong.
With this thought, Avery Graham couldn’t help but think of Bernard Taylor again. If he had a mother like hers, he wouldn’t have been so stifled.
