Chapter 924: 005 Parents approve, younger aunt causes difficulties
The next day, Michael Auclair acted as a driver, accompanying Avery Graham and her family back to their old house. Avery’s grandparents from both sides were very enthusiastic toward Michael Auclair.
Both families lived in the same town, so their relationship was quite good. When they saw Michael Auclair, they were together.
Since everyone only wanted the best for Avery, they weren’t too picky about Michael Auclair. There, Michael Auclair spent a quite comfortable and good New Year.
Avery was also going back with Michael Auclair, so on the second day—the evening after their arrival—she and Michael Auclair drove away, leaving Avery’s mom and dad, as well as Giselle Browman, at the old house.
Michael Auclair’s home wasn’t in G City, it was several hours’ drive from G City, and in a different direction from the Graham Family’s old house, so that day they drove back to G City.
When taking Avery back home, Michael Auclair originally wanted to stay overnight at the Graham Family’s place, but Avery Graham didn’t say anything. On the evening of New Year’s Eve, because there were people at the house, Michael Auclair stayed the night at the Graham Family’s place, sleeping on their sofa.
Today, only Avery was there. When they reached the entrance of the Residential Area, Avery Graham handed Michael Auclair the keys to her rented place, "If you think your home is too far, you can stay at my rented place."
"Avery, we’ve both met the parents already," Michael Auclair said hoarsely, his intention clear—he wanted to stay the night.
"I know, just bear with it. Let’s wait until we’re married to discuss this further. I’m sorry, but in this respect, I’m very traditional and insistent," Avery Graham firmly refused.
She knew that in this world, many girls would do that with a man before marriage. If she met someone she really liked, like Carolline Ruiz with Bryan Hawkins, or Celia Wade with Jordy Wade, with that earth-shattering feeling, she might act impulsively too. But the other party was Michael Auclair, and she couldn’t do it.
"Hmm, I know. It’s precisely because you’re like this that I find you adorable. I’ll be leaving then," Michael Auclair, hearing Avery Graham’s words, didn’t say much more. His car was parked in their Residential Area’s garage, and he didn’t reach for the keys in Avery’s hand, "Don’t worry, I’m driving. No matter how far it is, it’s not too far."
"Alright then, take care on the road," Avery Graham nodded.
Not long after Michael Auclair left, Avery Graham also tidied up a bit, grabbed her bag, and headed out. Megan Clifton had given birth, and Avery hadn’t had the time to visit before. Now that she had the time, she needed to make a visit.
Fortunately, it wasn’t too late. She went downstairs in their Residential Area, bought some diapers, a bag full of toys, and then prepared a money packet before heading out.
Meanwhile, Michael Auclair drove back to his own house. He hadn’t eaten much in the afternoon and was feeling a bit hungry now. He parked his car, walked out of the Residential Area, and went to the nearby convenience store to buy a few packs of instant noodles and two cans of beer. He also went across the street to buy some barbecue.
On his way back, he bumped into Adelle Turner at the entrance of the Residential Area.
Seeing her, Michael Auclair frowned, "What are you doing here?"
Hadn’t the two of them already come to an understanding? This woman clearly didn’t live here yet she still came—isn’t she here to find him?
"I just came to see if I could bump into you, and it turned out I really did," Adelle Turner said, looking at him with a face full of tender affection. She missed him. These past few days, her family had been pressuring her about having a boyfriend, and it annoyed her to no end. In a moment of impulse, she claimed that her boyfriend was her company’s superior, just to escape the family pressure. And so, she had run out.
She didn’t know where to go after running out and thought about trying her luck at Michael Auclair’s place.
She stood downstairs for a long time without seeing any lights in Michael Auclair’s house. Knowing that he was at his girlfriend’s house, she felt incredibly disheartened and was about to head back when she accidentally bumped into someone—only to hear his voice.
She was delighted, extremely delighted, feeling like the heavens were still on her side.
"I have to head back to the old house early tomorrow morning, so you should get some rest soon," Michael Auclair said, ignoring the joy on her face. He really wasn’t too fond of this woman.
They had already agreed not to entangle with each other, yet it seemed this woman just couldn’t understand.
"I know, but I’m hungry. Could I scrounge a pack of instant noodles from you? Please?" Adelle Turner asked pleadingly.
Seeing her like that, Michael Auclair softened up and agreed.
"Wait here, I’ll go buy some eggs and vegetables," Adelle Turner said cheerfully, jumping up with excitement. After taking a few steps, she turned back to look at Michael Auclair with a pitiful expression, "You see, when I left in a hurry, I didn’t bring anything with me, so I don’t have any money now."
