Chapter 922: 004 Officially Visiting_5
If a prospective son-in-law shows stinginess on his first visit, then, later on, the daughter will suffer from offense, and it’s better to replace such a son-in-law sooner rather than later.
Of course, this only applies before marriage. After marriage, one shouldn’t keep buying these face-saving items. Instead, it’s important to purchase practical and cost-effective things, as that’s how to lead a good daily life together. This is called knowing how to live.
"Okay, thank you, Auntie and Uncle," Michael Auclair nodded, and after entering the house, he placed the things he was carrying on the coffee table. The coffee table could not hold everything, so some boxes were set on the floor. "These are some health supplements and skincare products I bought for Auntie, and I wasn’t sure what Uncle liked to drink, so I got some cigarettes, wine, and tea. Since Uncle is knowledgeable about tea, could you please check if the teas I’ve bought are good?"
"..." Michael Auclair’s humility and caution especially pleased the elders. The father of the Graham Family was also very happy, reaching out to take the tea Michael passed him. The price tag was still attached, and he was shocked to the point of being somewhat speechless. "This tea, even the loose ones are nice, but this is too expensive. The fancy packaging isn’t cost-effective. You and Avery still need to buy a house. You should save where you can, understand?"
Auntie Graham, standing beside him, nodded in complete agreement. They saw and felt Michael’s sincerity, as well as his feelings for Avery, and they were one hundred percent confident in entrusting Avery to him.
Since they were now family, his money was also Avery’s money. Encouraging him to save meant Avery wouldn’t struggle so much with buying a house.
When they, as parents, saw their daughter hustling for a house and car, it hurt them to watch. Urging her to find a boyfriend, apart from being anxious about her growing older, was mostly because they felt Avery deserved a man who would truly cherish her.
As their daughter, Avery was such a wonderful miss, indeed deserving of someone’s affection.
"Yes, Auntie and Uncle," Michael Auclair nodded again.
Auntie and Uncle Graham exchanged satisfied smiles at Michael’s well-behaved demeanor.
Similarly, Avery and Giselle Browman exchanged glances. Wasn’t Michael’s compliance a bit too much today, listening so obediently to her parents’ words?
"Auntie, let me help you make dumplings," Giselle Browman stood up, volunteering to assist.
Since Avery and her family were going back to the old house, she naturally would go with them. Therefore, she was spending New Year’s Eve at Auntie’s today and would return with them early the next day.
"Sure, sure, sure, Avery, you and your dad keep Michael good company." Auntie Graham stood up, cheerfully leading Giselle away.
The atmosphere at the Graham Family’s home was very pleasant today. With the New Year’s Eve dinner prepared and only half an hour until the start of the Spring Festival Gala, everyone helped place the dishes on the table, then gathered around, eating merrily.
The conversation flowed nicely, and seeing her parents like Michael so much made Avery feel quite delighted.
Michael was actually quite kind to her. Now that her parents also liked him so much, Avery thought that maybe it wouldn’t be too bad to make do with a life with him.
Michael answered every question Auntie Graham had, and even when she asked about his plans for their future, he seriously shared his vision.
Auntie Graham was very pleased with his response, liking this prospective son-in-law even more.
Halfway through the New Year’s Eve dinner, people outside started setting off fireworks and firecrackers. Michael had also bought some. "Avery, how about we go outside to set off some fireworks before coming back to eat?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s a good idea. Let’s go quickly, I see you’ve almost finished eating anyway," Auntie Graham agreed.
"I haven’t seen fireworks in a long time, I want to go watch too." Hearing about setting off fireworks, Giselle’s inner child emerged. She hadn’t set off her own fireworks since she had grown up.
"Then let’s all go," Avery said.
Auntie Graham glanced at Giselle, thinking the girl had no sense of timing. The young couple wanted to go out and enjoy some alone time, yet this young lady was keen to join in the fun.
Uncle Graham, on the other hand, didn’t mind. Young people after all, certainly enjoy gathering together.
In the end, the three of them went downstairs together to set off the fireworks, joining the children from the Residential Area. Avery and Giselle stood by watching while Michael set off fireworks with the group of kids.
"Sis, look at our brother-in-law, he’s so fond of children. After you get married, how many do you plan on having?" Giselle’s question was very direct, going straight to the matter of having children after marriage.
