Chapter 920: 004 Officially Visiting_3

"Michael, I want to remind you that this time, I’m not looking for any trinket—I want to be the team leader of Business Department Team A. You’ve got to remember to think of a way to help me when the time comes." Adelle Turner changed her clothes, grabbed her bag, and was ready to leave when another condition suddenly came to mind.

No matter what it was, even if it was money, there would come a day when it would be spent and gone for good. Since she was destined not to have this man, it was only right for her to think ahead for her own future.

"Adelle, you know full well that the team leader of A has already been tentatively decided as Giselle Browman, and the list will be announced after the new year. You want the team leader position now—what’s your angle? Next time, maybe, I’ll consider promoting you next time," Michael Auclair flatly refused.

"No way, Michael Auclair, I want that team leader position and nothing else. How long has Giselle Browman been with the company compared to me? It’s not fair. You’re promoting her instead of me. Forget about past affections if you must, but considering how hard I worked to please you last night, don’t you think you should fulfill this wish for me?" Adelle stepped up to Michael, her every sentence a threat.

"..." Michael held his tongue. Towards leaders, he could tolerate anything, but being threatened by a junior employee was a first for him; he wasn’t the kind of person to cave under threat, so Adelle had misjudged him.

"Mr. Michael, you can’t be like this. Between a future wife and a future sister-in-law, you can’t have it all. If you don’t agree, when I leave later, I won’t be buying medicine to take, and who knows, maybe with some luck, I could get pregnant straight away. What do you say?" This time Adelle was dead set on fighting for her future, so she had to make Michael Auclair agree no matter what.

"... Fine, I know what to do now. Just remember to buy that medicine after you leave; don’t let me down," Michael finally got a clear picture of what kind of person Adelle was and agreed to her terms. As for Giselle, he would look out for better opportunities for her in the future. After all, they would soon become family, and as her brother-in-law, it was natural for him to look after her.

"Don’t worry, Mr. Michael, as long as you don’t let me down, I certainly won’t let you down." Adelle nodded her head, then really did leave.

Michael quickly set about tidying up the room. The air felt somewhat murky, so he opened all the windows and even sprayed air freshener.

When everything was in order, he changed his clothes and headed out. The suit from last night, from inside to out, he disposed of it in the trash bin—completely and without hesitation.

Afterward, Michael hurried to the meeting point he had arranged with Avery Graham, waiting for Avery’s arrival.

Avery arrived twenty minutes late. Before getting into the car, Michael did not rush to enter but instead leaned in and asked, "Lady Avery, may I have the honor of being your designated driver?"

"No need, with that strong scent of wine on you, if we happen to run into the Traffic Police, you’ll definitely get done for drunk driving. I’m not taking that risk. How much did you drink yesterday? And how about Giselle—her phone is still unreachable." Her mother would surely expect Giselle home for dinner tonight. The girl hadn’t answered her calls yet, and Avery had been planning to have her join them for lunch, then go shopping together for New Year goods before heading home to eat, and the next day, they would all go back to their old house.

"Alright then." Michael got into the car and fastened his seat belt. During the New Year period, everything was under strict scrutiny. "Don’t worry, it was Giselle’s first time at the company’s annual party, and new employees tend to get it the worst. But before I left, I made sure she was safe, staying at a nearby hotel with a female coworker. Maybe she hasn’t woken up yet."

As he spoke, Michael made a call to the other female coworker who was just sobering up. When she saw that Michael Auclair was the one calling, she immediately picked up, "Mr. Michael... I’m with Giselle. She’s still not awake. Do you want me to wake her up? ... Okay, I’ll take her home later, don’t worry."

"There you go, she’s still sleeping. Someone will take her home later, or, we can look for them after lunch," Michael hung up and relayed the information to Avery.

"Hmm, I guess that will have to do for now," Avery nodded, knowing from her own experience with binge drinking how precious extra sleep could be when hungover.
