Chapter 919: 004 Officially Visiting_2

Avery Graham sighed, knowing she’d have to save up for even longer to afford a square foot of a house now, such a pity, such a shame.

With housing prices skyrocketing like this, when would a poor person like her ever be able to afford her own place?

In fact, her father had told Avery more than once that there was still some savings at home; they only had one daughter, and whatever she wanted to buy, her parents would definitely support her. If she wanted to buy a house, the family savings could cover the down payment, and she’d just need to make the mortgage payments every month.

But Avery refused to accept it. Her parents had saved their entire lives, and all of it was being spent on their child. From birth to growing up, she already owed her parents so much. Now that she was grown, she truly didn’t want her parents to spend their hard-earned money on her anymore.

She had hands and feet, and she had a brain; if she didn’t have money, she could earn it. If she couldn’t afford to buy a house, she could rent.

Anyway, she would try her best to earn the money. Whenever she had enough, she would buy a house then.

Avery moved her stuff alone into the trunk of the car, and just like that, two hours were gone. She got into her car, ready to leave, when Michael Auclair’s call finally came through.

"Hello, Avery, where are you?" After partying all night yesterday, Michael Auclair didn’t go to work. He saw a missed call from Avery as soon as he turned on his phone and almost immediately called her back.

"I’m at the mall, and you don’t need to buy anything. If you already did, we can combine our purchases. Are you still at work? If you’re not, where are you? I’ll come pick you up, and we can have lunch together. Tonight, we’ll have dinner at my place, and tomorrow we might go back to the old house." Avery didn’t ask why he hadn’t answered his phone before.

"Yeah, I’m not working anymore, I’m at..." Michael Auclair gave an address, his head still spinning from last night’s hangover; naturally, he couldn’t drive.

"Alright, I’ll come over, but it might take a while, there might be some traffic on the way there," Avery replied.

"Okay. No worries, I’ll wait for you. Take your time," Michael Auclair said tenderly, having deliberately chosen a location that was prone to traffic jams.

After hanging up, Michael Auclair hurried to the Health Room and knocked on the door, "I have to go out, hurry up and come out."

After waking up from his drunken stupor, he realized he had made a mistake, having brought a female colleague from his company home to spend the night. Before, when something like this happened, it didn’t matter because he was single.

But now, he had Avery, and besides, their relationship had progressed to the point of meeting the parents. If Avery ever found out about his actions, she surely wouldn’t forgive him.

So, he had to handle it properly.

A minute later, the woman opened the door. Glancing at Michael Auclair, whose face looked less than pleased, she curved her lips into a smile, her hands reaching for his neck as she stepped closer, seductively asking, "What’s the matter? It’s not our first time, is it? After getting a girlfriend, are you really that afraid of her?"

"That’s all in the past. Last night I was drunk. Whatever you want, we’ll talk after the New Year. But remember this, keep your mouth shut. Don’t spread the word about this, especially not to Giselle Browman." Giselle Browman was Avery’s cousin, and although he was her superior, when it came to matters of principle, Giselle would definitely take Avery’s side.

"Okay, okay, I got it, no fun at all," the woman said, flinging her hands in a gesture of resignation.

She had heard that Michael Auclair had a girlfriend, but there had been no news of any developments between them, so she thought his relationship might be fake. After all, she never saw him bring a woman to the company, like at the company’s annual party yesterday; Michael kept saying he would bring his girlfriend, but after a long wait, everyone learned she wouldn’t come.

Consequently, she didn’t believe a word Michael Auclair said. She made her move, getting him drunk again and successfully seducing him a second time. She thought after last night, things between them would naturally move forward.

To her surprise, after simply using his bathroom for a shower, he became so abruptly harsh in his attitude.

But besides agreeing to his demands, she had no other choice. After all, she had worked at the company for many years yet remained a junior staff member. How could a junior employee confront a managerial-level leader?

"Then you’d better leave quickly. I won’t escort you out," Michael Auclair urged. He needed to tidy up his home just in case Avery thought of stopping by after lunch, although, of course, this possibility was quite slim.
