Chapter 916: 003 Stay Overnight Together_6

Bernard Taylor pocketed the money with barely an expression on his face.

"Avery, I helped you win some money. Aren’t you pleased?" Avery Graham was a bit dissatisfied.

"Yeah, thanks," Bernard Taylor said indifferently. Winning or not wasn’t important. What mattered was everyone having a good time. Of course, seeing Nelson Castillo looking so displeased was quite satisfying.

When he had been losing a lot, Nelson Castillo had that smug look on his face.

During the meal, Avery Graham was supposed to sit with the female colleagues, but Nelson Castillo insisted on pulling her over to their table, even seating her next to Bernard Taylor.

"Look, Avery, since you helped Bernard take our money, you’ll have to drink a few more glasses with us later, or I, your brother Nelson, won’t let it go," Nelson Castillo said directly to Avery Graham.

"Then let Bernard drink with you guys. I have to run the store for half a day tomorrow. It wouldn’t be good if I got drunk," Avery Graham said, blunt about her unwillingness to drink and volunteering Bernard Taylor in her place.

"Bernard has to catch a flight later. This kid, really, I told him there was a gathering tonight. We were supposed to go singing after dinner, but now he’s leaving," Nelson Castillo complained furiously.

"...Really? You’re leaving? Isn’t tomorrow Spring Festival Eve?" Avery asked Bernard Taylor. Shouldn’t everyone be with their families on Spring Festival Eve?

"Yeah, they don’t celebrate Spring Festival abroad. There’s something I need to handle back there," Bernard Taylor explained. Plus, tomorrow, he would be bringing Michael Auclair to their home, wouldn’t he?

The relationship between him and her was truly settled now.

"Oh, I see." Avery Graham didn’t know what else to say. She thought he might have been upset about something, but it turned out to be a work commitment. It seemed she had been overly concerned.

During the meal, Avery Graham was forced to drink a lot, and Bernard Taylor, sitting next to her, didn’t prevent others from pouring her drinks, merely watching as she was plied with alcohol.

Avery Graham really couldn’t handle her wine well, and with Nelson Castillo and the others intent on getting revenge for the money she had won, they kept filling her glass relentlessly until she could no longer cope. Then Bernard Taylor finally spoke up, "Alright, enough is enough."

Only then did Nelson Castillo and the others stop.

Avery Graham couldn’t hold back and rushed out to the restroom to throw up for quite a while.

Bernard Taylor waited outside with a glass of water and some tissues. When several women came into the restroom and saw a man standing there, they were scared off.

After Avery finished vomiting, she emerged pale-faced and saw Bernard Taylor handing her the water and tissues, "Rinse your mouth, wipe your face."

"Thanks." Avery Graham took them, feeling a bit frustrated with the lack of prevention.

When she was being forced to drink earlier, why didn’t he step in to help?

"I’ll take you home. You don’t need to go sing with them in this state," Bernard Taylor said calmly.

Avery Graham was thinking the same. Those bastards were too harsh today, all for a few hundred dollars they lost to revenge.

But didn’t Bernard Taylor have a flight to catch?

"Didn’t you have a flight to catch?" Avery was dizzy from throwing up but still somewhat clear-headed.

"I’ve already missed it, so it’s not necessary anymore," Bernard Taylor said casually. Missing it was not a big deal; he could take a morning flight tomorrow.

"But you can still make it if you take a taxi now. Rush it. I’m okay here. I’ll have my boyfriend pick me up later," Avery Graham said, genuinely concerned about delaying his business, not really considering her words or thinking it might upset him.

"..." Bernard Taylor, who had looked fairly composed until then, suddenly appeared deflated. "If I’m not mistaken, your boyfriend is currently at his company’s annual party. I doubt he’ll be available to come get you."

He knew this because Michael Auclair’s company’s boss had also invited his parents, technically the entire family, but he didn’t want to go and had agreed to Nelson Castillo’s invitation in advance.

If it hadn’t been for Nelson Castillo, he wouldn’t have attended, as he found Michael Auclair very irksome.

"Right, I forgot about that. Then I’ll just go sing," Avery Graham said with a weak smile, looking somewhat ghostly given the pallor of her face.

"I said I’d take you home." Bernard Taylor insisted. Going to sing karaoke, who knew what antics those idiots might get up to next.

Their wildest moments were always during department parties when everyone would take the next day off. So on the eve of the party, they would let loose without restraint.
