Chapter 914: 003 Stay Overnight Together_4
"Mrs. Taylor." Michael Auclair, having paid the bill and carrying the king crab takeout for Giselle Browman, greeted Nancy Sallow with the utmost respect.
As they were all involved in business, even though their company didn’t have much business intersection with the Taylor Family, nobody could guarantee that there wouldn’t be cooperation one day, so he was courteous to everyone.
Especially since Nancy Sallow was the wife of the Taylor Family’s CEO, and he was just an employee, there was no pride to speak of.
"Hmm, CEO Auclair," Nancy Sallow returned with a smile, showing some respect toward Michael Auclair, "I heard that CEO Auclair is getting married to Miss Graham, is that right? We’ll be waiting for your good news, and don’t forget to invite us on your wedding day."
"Certainly, certainly, thanks in advance, Mrs. Taylor," Michael Auclair replied with a smile.
Avery Graham, standing to the side, said nothing. It was at this moment that Bernard Taylor came out of the door. The atmosphere of the conversation inside made him uncomfortable, so he stepped out for a breath of fresh air.
When Nancy Sallow opened the door earlier, he hadn’t seen Avery there, but now he did, and he also saw the person he didn’t want to see.
"Bernard, you’re out too? Look, CEO Auclair and Avery are here; their big day is near. They said they would invite us, right, CEO Auclair?" Nancy Sallow spoke preemptively and, worried that Bernard Taylor hadn’t heard the earlier conversation, repeated it.
"Yes, Mrs. Taylor, if Mr. Taylor has time, he is welcome to attend," Michael Auclair said with a laugh. In his opinion, since Avery had already agreed to meet the parents, their marriage was not far off.
Henry Lawson was a man who liked to save face; with people talking this way, he naturally went along with it.
"Alright," Bernard Taylor said indifferently, and then he turned to Avery and added, "Congratulations to you both."
Having said this, Bernard Taylor strode out.
Avery Graham glanced sharply at Nancy Sallow, unconcerned with what Michael Auclair might feel standing beside her. That instant, she really felt sorry for Bernard Taylor.
"Never have I seen a mother act like you do. It’s truly sad that Bernard Taylor has a mother like you." After Avery finished speaking, she too walked away.
However, she headed for the main entrance of the Seafood Restaurant, unlike the direction Bernard Taylor went.
Nancy Sallow’s face instantly darkened; this was the first time someone had spoken to her in such a way. The girl who Bernard Taylor had once held in high regard had never dared to be so bold. Where on earth did Avery Graham get such audacity?
To dare to speak to her like that.
"Sorry, Mrs. Taylor, Avery might be in a bad mood today. Don’t take it personally," Michael Auclair explained to Nancy Sallow, then took their table’s items and chased after her.
Nancy Sallow was deeply upset and had no intention of explaining herself to Avery.
As she turned to head for the restroom, Bernard Taylor was standing abruptly behind her. Avery hadn’t seen him earlier because Nancy Sallow had blocked the view. If Avery had seen him, she certainly wouldn’t have said what she did.
Nancy Sallow felt embarrassed and, for a moment, didn’t know what to say.
"Mom, I’m leaving in two days; you and dad should celebrate the New Year by yourselves." Bernard Taylor had heard the words Avery Graham said, and he agreed with them. He had thought about easing the relationship with his mother, Nancy Sallow, given that it had been many years since the incident occurred.
After saying this, Bernard Taylor turned and left again.
Stunned, Nancy Sallow rushed after him, "Bernard, Bernard, why are you leaving so quickly?"
"Don’t you know? Then you should ask dad. Besides, you don’t seem very eager for me to return to the country, so I won’t bother you," Bernard Taylor said. Always doing things like this made him uncomfortable, and at this moment, he truly didn’t know how to communicate with Nancy Sallow anymore.
Seeing that Bernard Taylor really didn’t want to speak a word to her, Nancy Sallow was furious. Once more, she blamed Avery Graham for this anger, firmly believing that if Avery hadn’t gone insane and suddenly said those words to her, Bernard Taylor wouldn’t have decided to leave so soon. Just when the family could have spent the New Year together in peace and joy, Avery Graham ruined it.
She never understood that the fault was her own.
