Chapter 884: 016 Belated Repentance_4
"Of course, you don’t remember me. We were middle school classmates; I was the transfer student with terrible grades. I only studied in your class for half a year before I got married," the woman said with a sense of inferiority.
Her current life is that of an ordinary woman. Today, her husband made some money, so they came to the Royal Hotel for a meal. The clothes she’s wearing are the most luxurious she’s ever worn in her life. However, compared to Ellie Wilton, it’s like comparing heaven and earth.
Ellie Wilton was the goddess-like figure of their class. There were twenty-nine boys in the class, and twenty-six of them had a crush on Ellie. Of them, two boys were bolder and persistently pursued her in public, but Ellie rejected them all.
After she left school to get married, she would hurry to attend any class reunions. Naturally, she learned a bit about Ellie’s life. She never expected that Ellie, beloved by so many men, would become a mistress to a married man.
Being a mistress is one thing, but to be involved with an older man, much older than herself.
Everyone felt it wasn’t worth it for Ellie, but no matter who tried to advise her, it was useless. She loved that man desperately and did everything she could for him, the possible and the impossible.
Yet, look at her now, having devoted her entire life, she ultimately gained everything.
But how many women dare to do as Ellie did, sacrifice their whole lives in pursuit of true love?
"Don’t put it that way. Tell me your name, and perhaps I’ll be able to remember," Ellie said with a gentle smile, figuring she must be someone familiar since the woman knew her name.
"There’s really no need. But speaking of your good friend Vaness Taylor, do you remember her?" The woman refrained from revealing her own name but mentioned another prominent figure from their class, the top student and their class leader.
Vaness Taylor and Ellie were very good friends. Vaness never married in her life. Ellie met that man and went with him to Kyoto. She then secretly became his kept woman. Later on, Vaness followed them to Kyoto too and reportedly started working at an orphanage. Two years later, she became the dean of that orphanage.
Both were truly good friends. Ellie was content as a mistress without disrupting the man’s family, while Vaness decided she’d never marry, intending to contribute something to society.
One sacrificed her life for a private love, while the other did the same for a greater cause. Vaness didn’t have her own children, but there were many orphans in the world who were like her children.
Now, Vaness has cancer and is recuperating in Kyoto. Every day, the children she once took care of accompany her. Even she herself has visited Vaness during a trip with her husband to Kyoto, something she learned from a classmate. When she found time, she went to see that woman. The doctor said there was no cure, that they could only wait for death, but Vaness remained quite optimistic.
"Of course, I remember. Is something wrong with her?" Vaness was her best friend and the dean of Fortstar Orphanage. Vaness could become the dean of that orphanage thanks to Marcus Parker’s help.
Later, after Ellie secretly gave birth to a child, she took the child back to her old house to raise. A few years later, when Marcus came to find her, she entrusted the child to Vaness to be taken to the orphanage.
However, such a tragic event happened at the orphanage, and Vaness, as the dean, naturally couldn’t escape responsibility. Although many suspected why Vaness wasn’t at the orphanage that night.
Vaness’s explanation was reasonable: there was an emergency at home, and she had left a few days earlier. On the day of the fire, she was on her way back. The police also confirmed Vaness’s statement, so the fire was ruled an accident.
After that, Ellie was devastated by the loss of her son and cut off contact with all her good friends in the country, including Vaness. Then, she found an excuse for Marcus to send her abroad.
Ellie then never took the initiative to contact Vaness again. Later, she wanted to, but after trying, she couldn’t reach her, and thus she lost touch with Vaness.
However, how could she possibly forget such a good friend?
She never blamed Vaness, but at that time, the loss of her son was too much to bear, and she had no desire to explain to Vaness.
