Chapter 885: 016 Belated Repentance_5

Since returning to the country, she had been incredibly busy, busy starting a shop, recognizing her son, and now busy with arranging his marriage. Even if she wanted to reclaim old friendships, it would have to wait until after this busy period was over.

"She got cancer," the woman shook her head as she spoke. "I found out last month when I was traveling in Kyoto. A former classmate of mine told me, and then I went to visit her at the Hospital. She’s changed so much; she’s so young, yet her figure is all skin and bones." That’s why being a bit more robust is better. It doesn’t matter if it’s a beautiful woman or an ugly one; a sick woman is the worst to look at.

After all, it’s better to be healthy.

"Got cancer? How could that happen? Which Hospital is she at?" Ellie Wilton could hardly believe it. Vanessa Taylor was such a cheerful person; it was hard to imagine that she could be stricken with cancer.

"I can’t quite remember. I don’t know much about it. The hospital is some private one, I think it’s called Peacen Hospital or something?" The woman tilted her head, thinking hard, but that was all she could remember.

When she had visited Vanessa Taylor, it was out of nostalgia for their school days. Her relationship with Vanessa Taylor was not actually very close, and her impression of her couldn’t compare to Ellie Wilton’s.

"Thank you. When I return to Kyoto, I’ll have someone look into it for me," Ellie Wilton nodded in gratitude. "But do tell me your name, maybe I’ll remember you?"

"It’s really not that great of a name; maybe I shouldn’t say it?" The woman blushed, not really wanting to mention her own name.

"Come on, say it. We might run into each other again someday," for the first time, Ellie Wilton was somewhat insistent.

"Alright, my name is Audrey Johnson." The woman finally said her name.

The name sounded familiar to Ellie Wilton. She remembered that in the eighth grade, there was a girl who transferred to their class. When she introduced herself with that name, everyone thought her name was "Cauliflower", and they were all very surprised, wondering who would give their child such a name.

It was only after Audrey Johnson wrote her name on the blackboard that everyone realized their mistake.

At that time, she was a girl who loved to laugh in their class. Where she was, laughter followed. Perhaps her grades weren’t very good later on, so she left. During high school, it was heard that her family had her get married.

Everyone was surprised by her for quite a while. They were the same age, yet their life experiences were so different.

"I remember you," Ellie Wilton said earnestly.

Audrey Johnson’s face turned red. At that moment, her even more robust-looking husband came to fetch her. When he saw her standing at the restroom entrance talking to someone, he called out loudly, "Hey, kiddo’s mom, what are you standing around for? Your favorite sweet roast pork is served. If you don’t come now, those few rascals will eat it all. Hurry up."

"Oh, coming. Anna, I have to go," Audrey Johnson said to Ellie Wilton, then walked toward the plump man.

Ellie Wilton couldn’t help but notice as Audrey Johnson pinched the man here and there; she suddenly felt that this, too, was a form of happiness.

When Emily Hill caught up after finishing her chat, she found Ellie Wilton standing by the restroom door, staring blankly down the empty corridor. It was only when Emily Hill called her name that Ellie Wilton realized she hadn’t attended to nature’s call and hurriedly went in.

After lunch was over, they stayed one night in G City, and then Celia Wade followed Ryan Parker back to Kyoto.

Upon returning to Kyoto, Ellie Wilton didn’t immediately plan a meal with the four Parker children. Celia Wade and Ryan Parker had their own business to attend to, being busy with wedding photoshoots. Ellie Wilton had intended to accompany them through the whole process, but her encounter with Audrey Johnson in G City made her ask someone to check Peacen Hospital for someone named Vanessa Taylor.

It didn’t take long before she had confirmation; indeed, there was a person by that name.

She bought a lot of things and went to the hospital alone to visit.

The reason Marcus Parker wasn’t badgering her was that he was preoccupied with his son and future daughter-in-law. He wanted to shed the burden he bore on his shoulders and let Ryan Parker take on the group’s responsibilities.

To persuade his son, Marcus Parker also played the flattery card, and he aimed to please Celia Wade.

He was well aware that if he could win over the treasure of his son’s heart, convincing his son would be much easier.

What Ryan Parker wanted to say was that the old man was being childish. Sure, they were taking wedding photos, and Ellie Wilton wasn’t there, but didn’t his dad find that odd? However, Marcus Parker was determined to get his way this time; even when Ryan Parker mentioned Ellie Wilton, he only briefly got sidetracked before steering the conversation back to inheriting the company.
