Carolline’s eyes widened, her face reddening even more. She didn’t say a word, but Lucy had seen right through her thoughts. It had been the same when they were young, and now after so many years, Lucy’s ability hadn’t changed at all.

Bryan Cooper felt a bit dizzy and wanted to take a nap, so he didn’t pay much attention to the two women whispering right in front of him.

“Alright, I won’t keep you guys any longer. I’m leaving now.” The three of them went outside, and Lucy hailed a taxi and left.

Carolline and Bryan got into their car’s back seat, and the designated driver asked for the address. Bryan gave him their villa’s address, originally planning for the two of them to go see a movie or do some regular couple’s activities.

However, at this point, he felt dizzy and extremely sleepy.

“I feel a bit dizzy. Can we go back first?” Bryan asked Carolline.

“Sure.” Carolline nodded. Lucy had opened one bottle of wine after another, clearly trying to get Bryan drunk. Carolline tried to stop her, but to no avail; Lucy’s silver tongue was too impressive.

The designated driver dropped them off at their destination, returned the keys, and left.

After thanking him, Carolline helped Bryan into the house. At this point, not only was he dizzy, but his face was also flushed. Seeing this, Carolline directed him to the bedroom to lie down on the bed.

“You lie down first, I’ll get some water for you to drink, and then I’ll help you wipe down and change clothes. After that, you can sleep.” Carolline felt guilty since Lucy had gotten Bryan into this state, and since Lucy was her friend, it was only natural for her to take care of him.

“Hmm…” Bryan opened his groggy eyes and looked at Carolline, nodding. At this moment, realizing there was something wrong with his body, but knowing Carolline was with him, he felt reassured and at ease.

As Carolline turned to fetch the water, she received a text from Lucy: “You guys reached your place, right? Let me tell you something, I gave Mr. Hawkins an aphrodisiac. The only way to save him is to find him a woman. Carolline, you’re smart, you know what to do, right? Well, no need to thank me. This is all I can do to help you, my dear friend. Enjoy.”

Seeing this text, Carolline was taken aback, having only seen aphrodisiacs on TV and the internet before. This was her first encounter with one in real life. Remembering Bryan’s unusually flushed face, she assumed he was drunk.

Carolline’s mind was in chaos, not knowing what to do. She called Lucy, but the cunning girl had turned off her phone, perhaps knowing she would be scolded.

What Carolline didn’t know was that as soon as Lucy received the designated driver’s reply, she sent a pre-written text to Carolline and immediately turned off her phone. Lucy knew Carolline all too well. Anyway, since the deed was done, Lucy would later accept any admonishment from Carolline.

Both were startled. They exchanged guilty glances, and Carolline said, “I…I’m sorry, I’ll get you another one.”

Carolline quickly left the room, and Bryan watched her retreating figure, narrowing his eyes. But the burning feeling inside him intensified, and he couldn’t wait to caution her about the shards on the floor. He quickly removed his pants, got out of bed, and headed for the bathroom.

He started filling the tub with hot water, but after a while, he switched to cold water. The cold droplets hitting his skin slightly alleviated the inner heat. Bryan’s mind was still clear, and he suspected someone had set him up. The only place where he could have been targeted was when he was drinking with Lucy. However, he wondered why Lucy would do this to him.

No matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t figure out the reason.
