"Sounds good," Bryan nodded.

The three of them soon arrived at the hotel. Mia didn’t invite many people, mostly those Carolline knew and some colleagues from their TV station. Carolline was familiar with all these people since Mia and Ben were her classmates as well as her colleagues.

"Has Carolline arrived?" Mia and Ben noticed her at the same time, obviously also noticing Bryan by her side.

"I brought an extra friend." Carolline walked towards Mia. After all, as the host of tonight’s gathering, they needed to introduce Gary Skate who they had brought along on a whim. "This is Gary, the dean of our hospital, and he’s pretty young."

Mia, a perceptive person, frowned when Carolline emphasized that Gary was very young. "What do you mean by that?"

"Exactly what you’re thinking." Carolline grinned mischievously.

Then she turned and walked away, leaving Mia a bit miffed. "Hey, Mr. Hawkins, your Carolline has lost all her manners due to you."

"Even if she’s misbehaving, she’s still perfect to me," Bryan doted.

"Tsk tsk tsk, if only I knew... I wouldn’t have invited family members. You clearly came to show off your love life in front of us single people," Mia said, frowning. She had to admit, this couple was something else.

"My Carolline just now with you..."

"Seriously, you two make a perfect match. I can’t outtalk both of you." Mia simply turned and walked off.

At dinner, Carolline found out that Mia and Ben were going to Africa to follow up and interview their city’s doctors who were providing medical support in Africa, and that they would be broadcasting live from there.

"Oh, you two are going together?" Carolline wondered why they didn’t seem a bit unhappy about this, considering that apart from Gavin Campbell, no one in their hospital would want to go there.

"Going to miss me?" Mia smirked.

"....." Carolline decided to remain silent.

The dinner felt more like a farewell party for Mia and Ben with their colleagues. Carolline even wondered if Mia had chosen this hotel on purpose as it belonged to Bryan, if not, she wouldn’t have even thought about inviting her.

After dinner, Ben saw their guests off, while Mia stayed behind to pay the bill. It was agreed from the outset that she would be treating them tonight. Even though Bryan said she need not pay, Mia insisted on doing so, only accepting Bryan’s offer of a forty percent discount.

Bryan agreed eventually.

"Carolline, did you feel like a third wheel at the dinner party? Let me tell you, you weren’t, not in the slightest. Right, I called you here to ask for information about two doctors and nurses from your hospital. I want to interview them more extensively," Mia thought for a moment.

"So it’s just for this? Couldn’t you have just told me this over the phone?" Carolline replied, exasperated. She had thought it was something important.

"Carolline, we’re leaving the day after tomorrow and have to pack tomorrow. I’ve not seen you for ages, I missed you. Can’t you understand that?" Mia nearly scolded Carolline for her insensitivity.

This woman didn’t appreciate her hidden concerns at all. She had taken the time tonight just to meet her, even if it was only for a little while. She always thought about Carolline when she worked out of town, yet this woman was living so freely.

"Okay, okay! Speaking of this, I’ll let you guys bring something for Gavin Campbell when you go. He’s a doctor from our hospital. You guys can use this opportunity to interview him while delivering the goods. How kind am I?"

"Very nice indeed, deal. As long as it is not too much, remember we are only two people and we don’t have extra help," Mia reminded her. Considering the distance, she would likely have a lot to carry.
