Chapter 713: Chapter 713: Mia Parker Takes Action (3)
Subsequently, Mia Parker’s text message came: [Hmm, I forgot to mention earlier, the venue will be your husband’s Emperor Hotel. I heard there’s a new handsome chef there. Oh, you can bring your family, husband and son included. I’ll treat you, just ask your husband to give me a 60% discount.]
There was a sneaky smiling emoji attached as well, leaving Carolline Ruiz speechless.
A 60% discount – even better than robbery.
Most importantly, there’s a new chef. Shouldn’t the focus be on the chef’s cooking skills? Why pay attention to the chef’s appearance? Even in this era where looks matter, there should be some consideration for the profession.
It’s one thing to judge celebrities and singers by their looks, but chefs rely on their skills to make a living. Should they be judged by their looks too?
"Miss Mia Parker?" Megan Clifton heard Mia’s loud voice. Megan knew Mia because of her relationship with Carolline.
"Yes, she wants to get together tonight. Do you and Andy Aguirre have time? If so, let’s all go together; the more, the merrier." Since Mia chose her husband’s hotel, Carolline thought it wouldn’t make any difference if she invited more people.
"We’d better not go. You guys might get too rowdy, and I’m supposed to be focusing on prenatal education here." Megan politely declined, primarily because she didn’t know many people in Mia’s friend group. If she and Andy went, they’d be like strangers. So, Megan thought it was better for them to pass.
"It’s rare to hear you say that." Carolline nodded with a smile.
"I don’t have lunch, and Andy’s gone to an academic conference. He won’t be back until this afternoon. Are you having lunch at the cafeteria or going home?" Megan made it clear that she was sticking with Carolline, whether she went home or ate in the cafeteria.
"Let’s hit the cafeteria. My mom’s not home, and you know how impossible it is for my dad to cook." Carolline grabbed her card, and the two walked to the cafeteria, laughing and joking around.
At the cafeteria, they ran into Gary Skate and George Edwards. The two men were having lunch together. Carolline and Megan got their food and were about to find another spot when Gary waved at them, "Carolline, come here! Sit with us."
Unable to refuse, Carolline and Megan reluctantly headed over, mainly because Gary was loud. As they were both leaders, the staff actively avoids them, and the tables near them were empty.
After Carolline and Megan took their seats, George glanced at Carolline, nodding slightly to both women before lowering his head to continue eating.
Carolline was already hungry, and she didn’t like talking while eating, so she tucked in. Megan, on the other hand, struck up a conversation with Gary. They seemed to get along quite well, without the initial sense of annoyance.
After chatting with Megan for a while, George finished his meal and left early. Lately, he’d been avoiding encounters with Carolline in the hospital. Carolline’s life had been getting better, but his was getting worse.
There wasn’t really anything wrong between him and Carolline. Yet, whether it was his guilt or something else, he felt as though some people at work were looking at him differently these days.
"Carolline, why aren’t you talking?" Ever since the two of them cleared the air, they’d been cordial upon seeing each other. Today, however, Carolline remained silent.
"I’m starving, don’t have time to talk." Carolline had already eaten half the food on her plate.
Heh, just look at Megan; she’s pregnant, but if people didn’t know better, they’d think that you’re the one expecting. By the way, are you and George planning to have a second child?" Gary was being very gossipy. He tended to be like that; once he warmed up to someone, he acted more approachable.
