Carolline Ruiz has been living quite a smooth life, harmlessly indulging in her sweet time with Bryan Hawkins. Her husband dotes on her, her son is well behaved, many people envy her.

When September came, fresh new faces were added to the hospital. Carolline thought of how she and Megan Clifton were just as young and vibrant at that time.

"Missing those old times?" Megan Clifton has known Carolline for many years, so she can read Carolline’s thoughts just from her facial expression shift.

"Hmm, I wonder what Sophie Thompson and Agatha Gage are doing?" Sophie Thompson and Agatha Gage were her roommates back then. The four girls enjoyed their college life by hanging out every week, taking turns to treat each other to meals.

"Sophie Thompson naturally works in the best hospital in their city. As for Agatha Gage, I heard she went to Africa. She had no connections, so she was assigned to a place where no one else wanted to go. She was about to get married, but when the man heard she was assigned to Africa, he broke off the engagement without a second thought." Megan Clifton relayed the news she heard from other classmates.

"How do you know all this?" Carolline was surprised. Over the years, she had lost contact with her classmates from primary school, middle school, and university, except for a few close ones.

"I’m in the alum group chat, that’s how I hear." Megan Clifton rolled her eyes at Carolline, thinking that everyone was like her who severed all other social circles except for her immediate family.

"Hey, do you want to join? I can add you." Megan Clifton took out her phone, opened up Whatsapp and was ready to add Carolline.

"Sure." Carolline nodded. She rarely engages with chat apps in her daily life. Quite belatedly, she realized her social life might be too closed off. She’s only in her twenties, yet her lifestyle feels very much like an old woman’s.

Megan Clifton swiftly added Carolline. The moment Carolline joined, a heated discussion erupted. The chat became as bustling as a pot on the boil.

It turned out Carolline was the only one from their class who hadn’t joined the group. With her addition, the whole class was finally assembled. Naturally, it whipped up some excitement.

Carolline felt a bit awkward. She simply couldn’t keep up with the rapid pace of the chat. Before she even had a chance to answer one question, a new one popped up.

When Carolline felt dizzy from all the chatting, Megan Clifton silenced everyone with an audio clip.

Carolline took a deep breath, these people were way too intense for her. It made her miss her quieter past. Megan Clifton chuckled at the sight of Carolline’s exhaustion.

Just as Carolline was glaring at her, Mia Parker called.

Carolline hadn’t heard from her in a while. She knew Mia was out of town on a reporting assignment and pretty busy. It was rare for her to call, especially out of the blue.

"Hey, Carolline, I’m back. Group dinner tonight, no excuses. I have something important to tell you." Mia was panting on the other end of the line, sounding busy.

"Hey ..." Carolline tried to say something, but Mia had already hung up.

Carolline frowned at her phone, annoyed. Mia said to gather for a meal but didn’t mention the venue.
