Chapter 656: Chapter 656: It’s Really Not Him (3)

"Why did you choose such a shoddy place? Wouldn’t a hotel be better?" Jane Auclair muttered under her breath. She was bewildered by Debbie Duncan’s choice of location, and even more so by the fact that she had accepted it.

"There are surveillance cameras in hotels. Here we don’t have any. Aren’t you afraid of being found out?" Debbie Duncan was amazed at Jane Auclair’s naïveté. If she hadn’t known Jane’s love for money, she wouldn’t have involved her in this mess.

But she couldn’t handle this on her own.

Only then did Jane Auclair realize the meticulousness of Debbie Duncan’s plan. Suddenly, she asked, "Well, there are surveillance cameras all around the zoo. Aren’t you scared we’ve been caught on camera?"

If that were the case, she decided, she couldn’t go through with this scheme. Though she was greedy for money, she valued her freedom more.

"That’s exactly why I had you get out of the car midway and move around before meeting me here," Debbie Duncan explained.

"..." Jane became speechless. Wasn’t Debbie from the countryside? Where did she learn this stuff? "Where in the world did you learn all this?"

"Watch enough TV, and you naturally pick up a thing or two," Debbie responded, beginning to dial a number on her phone.

Shortly after, two men appeared in front of them, one of them holding Elena Duncan. Debbie Duncan pulled out a hefty envelope from her bag and handed it to them—it was their service fee.

"This is your deserved pay. I’ll need your assistance in making a few more calls. I’ll pay the balance on time," Debbie Duncan assured the two men as she took Elena Duncan from them.

The two men opened the envelope, checked its contents, looked at each other and nodded, "Mrs. Duncan, you sure are generous. It’s an honor for us to serve you. Rest assured, we’ll stand ready for your orders at any time."

And with that, they left.

Jane Auclair stepped forward, gazing at the unconscious Elena. This little girl was so lovely, like a sleeping angel. For a moment, she thought of her own unborn child who might have already been born and probably just as lovely, if not for that accident.

"You take Elena away. I’ll take care of the remaining work. Just wait to share the money with me. Don’t worry, nothing will go wrong. Just make sure she is looked after, and fed on time," without even glancing at Elena, Debbie hands her over to Jane and instructs her.

"What if she wakes up and makes a fuss?" Jane had never taken care of a child before. While she had found a nanny, she was worried that the child, being so old already, would likely cry and fuss when she didn’t see any familiar faces.

"No worries. I have sleeping pills and sedatives here. If she causes a ruckus, just use one of these. But remember, you can only use one at a time. This will make sure she stays quiet," Debbie said, pulling out two bottles from her bag.

"You..." Jane took the bottles and stared at these high-risk medications. Such a grandmother for Elena, she didn’t know what to say, but she herself wasn’t a good person either, "Alright, I know what to do."

"Right, you just need to provide a place for her to stay. Have someone you trust look after her. It’s best if you don’t show up in front of her, got it?" Debbie said as if she had just recalled something important.
