Chapter 657: Chapter 657: It’s Really Not Him (4)
"I understand." Jane Auclair nodded.
She hadn’t planned to show herself to the little girl in the first place. She knew how much the girl disliked her from her previous visits to the Duncan family house.
"Alright, let’s split up. I’ll leave first, and you can call a car later." Debbie Duncan clarified the division of tasks. Now, she could only choose to trust Jane. After all, it was not appropriate for her to accompany Elena Duncan.
Of course, she could entrust Elena to someone else, but she couldn’t trust strangers enough. Though she disliked Daisy Willow, Elena was still her granddaughter and Cole Duncan’s daughter. If the person she found would hurt Elena, her relationship with Cole for the rest of her life would be completely ruined.
So, she dragged Jane Auclair into this. If Jane did harm Elena out of jealousy, it wouldn’t have much to do with her.
Moreover, she thought there was a high possibility that Jane would abuse Elena, but she wouldn’t go so far as to kill her. After all, she knew this woman was timid and afraid of getting into trouble.
She did this just to teach Daisy Willow a lesson. Otherwise, she would really be uncomfortable seeing Daisy living such a good life.
When Debbie returned home, Katie and Cole had already arrived. She pretended to be innocent and asked in amazement, "Cole, weren’t you going to accompany Elena? Why did you come back so early without bringing her back for dinner?"
Cole Duncan Katie: "..."
Katie thought to herself, if Mrs. Duncan really had something to do with Elena’s disappearance, her acting skills were truly impressive.
Cole couldn’t figure it out either. He felt there was a fifty percent chance that his mother was behind this. However, looking at Debbie’s current state, it was clear she didn’t think it had anything to do with her.
"Well, something came up, so we came back early. Mom, Elena is missing." Cole Duncan suddenly looked at Debbie, focusing intently on her face, trying to discern every nuance of her expression.
"What? Elena is missing? How did she go missing? Did you call the police? Where is Daisy Willow?" Debbie asked several questions in a row, fully expressing her concern for Elena. Moreover, her worried expression was so genuine that Cole couldn’t detect anything unusual. "I said that we couldn’t trust Daisy Willow with Elena. She’s still young and would eventually get married. I don’t think she’s devoted 100% of her attention to Elena."
Debbie then hit her leg and wiped her tears, blaming everything on Daisy Willow.
Cole was at a loss for a moment. If his mother was acting, then he had to admit that he had lost to her. But if she wasn’t, and she had nothing to do with Elena’s disappearance, then did Elena really catch the attention of a human trafficker?
No matter how he thought about it, Cole’s heart was set on Elena. As for Debbie’s attempt to mislead him, he didn’t take the bait. To him, it was perfectly normal for Daisy Willow to date and get married.
She was still young and beautiful, so there was no reason for her to be alone for the rest of her life.
"Cole, have you called the police?" Debbie Duncan rushed to Cole and asked anxiously. "If not, we should go now. Also, have Daisy Willow go with us. After all, she was the one with Elena when she disappeared. She can explain the situation much better."
"We’ve already called the police, Mom. Just relax. All we can do now is wait for news." Cole replied calmly. At this moment, he really hated being disabled. Otherwise, when his daughter went missing, he could drive around and search for her himself.
