Chapter 632: Chapter 632: Gary Skate’s Identity (4)
"Well, thank you for telling me all this." Carolline nodded, "However, Charlotte’s affairs have nothing to do with me, and I have a clear conscience."
"I can see that." Briella nodded, and then her phone rang. It was the lawyer she had hired to sue Edward for divorce. They had discussed divorce before, but the Clark family was not cooperating at all.
Edward even tried to play tricks on her, but this time, she was determined to go through with it.
She had finally seen the true nature of the Clark family.
How despicable! No wonder she had never had a good relationship with her sister-in-law Charlotte, nor with her parents-in-law, after marrying into the family for so many years.
No wonder her mother had told her before marrying that when a woman marries a man, she marries not the man himself, but his family.
At that time, she was too young and naive, ignoring the advice and not realizing the fundamental difference between love and marriage. It was fine for her to date Edward, but when it came to marriage, her parents had a better foresight – the gap between their families was just too wide.
The reason for Ruth’s fever and infusion was that while Briella was talking about divorce with Edward yesterday, her in-laws took the opportunity to go to Ruth’s dance practice, asked for time off for her, and took her out to eat and have fun. Their intentions were good, but Ruth’s physical fitness wasn’t as good as other children’s. They even took her to play a water fight, which she had enjoyed, but later that night, she had a fever.
At home, they tried some emergency methods to reduce Ruth’s fever, but it only intensified. So, Briella immediately sent Ruth to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Thinking of this, she felt a surge of anger. She didn’t want to use such a decisive method to negotiate with the Clark family, but now she wouldn’t leave any way out for them – she would just sue them directly.
She didn’t care how the judgment would be made.
When Carolline returned from her rounds in the Surgical and Internal Medicine departments, she found Gary in her office. She was very surprised, "Why has Dean Gary honored me with his presence? What brings you here?"
"There’s no specific reason, I just wanted to come and see your usual work. I’ve just checked the administrative work, and now I’m checking your department." Gary told the truth with a smile in his eyes, but Carolline didn’t notice it.
"Oh, feel free to take a look." Carolline went to the drinking fountain and poured herself a glass of water.
She was a bit thirsty after visiting several departments.
"You seem to work hard and have a well-organized work environment." Gary quickly assessed the situation and concluded, "Why don’t I commend you by inviting you to lunch today? What do you think?"
"No need, I prefer having meals with my family. If you feel lonely during the meal, I think there are many people in the hospital who would be happy to accompany you." Carolline checked the time, took off her white coat, and prepared to leave work.
"Carolline, I don’t have any special skills, but this is the first time I’ve ever invited someone to eat and been rejected so thoroughly. Inviting you to eat is just one aspect, on the other hand, I also want to inspect the work of the cafeteria, and no one else is suitable." Gary stood up and stopped Carolline from leaving.
"How are others not suitable?" Carolline hadn’t expected Gary to use his lunch break to inspect work, too. She had never seen a leader so dedicated to his job. But why did he always ask her to help?
If it weren’t for the fact that she was certain she had never met him before, she would’ve thought she had unknowingly offended him, and he was suddenly appearing in front of her to take revenge.
