"Then hang up." Gary Skate was straightforward, hanging up the phone right away.

Just as Bryan Cooper hung up the phone, Carolline Ruiz pushed the door open and came in. Seeing his appearance, she asked in surprise, "You haven’t showered yet?"

"Yeah, I’m going to shower right now. Is Axel asleep?" That little guy, he thought Axel would pester Carolline for a while.

"Yes, he was already tired and just waiting for me to come back. I told him that we would go to Grandpa and Grandma’s house for dinner tomorrow, so he went to bed early." Carolline nodded, feeling quite tired herself, and lay down on the bed directly.

"Should I go to my parents’ house for dinner too?" Bryan Cooper asked, his eyes shining brightly.

"How long would it take you to drive there and back?" she implied, not quite approving of the idea.

She didn’t want Bryan to get too tired. He was already busy working, currently managing the company alone. Since Madelyn Lincoln was pregnant, even if the second-in-command wanted to help out at the company, he couldn’t do much, so everything still depended on Bryan. She was genuinely worried about him getting worn out with the workload and the added driving trip.

"Alright, then I won’t go." Bryan Cooper took his clothes and went to the bathroom to shower.

By the time Bryan Cooper got out, Carolline was already asleep. He had only been in the bathroom for less than ten minutes, so she must have been really tired. He smiled slightly.

Turning off the lights and getting into bed, he lowered the temperature by two degrees and then held Carolline in his arms as they both slept.

When Carolline met Briella Edwards, she was with her daughter Ruth Clark having an IV in the Outpatient Department. Carolline happened to be there to check on work matters. There wasn’t enough staff, so she helped change the medications for patients.

When changing the second patient’s medication, it happened to be for Briella’s daughter, Ruth. Carolline hadn’t seen Briella before, but Briella recognized Carolline, having seen her several times when she had come to the hospital previously.

Seeing the nurses in white coats, Ruth Clark would often get scared and cry. When she saw Carolline, however, Carolline would give her a sweet smile, and Ruth wouldn’t be afraid anymore.

Carolline changed the medication and prepared to leave. She had finished checking the Outpatient Department and was going to head over to the Surgical and Internal Medicine Departments.

"Nurse Carolline, could I have a word with you?" Briella called out to her suddenly.

Carolline was a little shocked, wondering how Briella knew her.

"Oh, I am Charlotte Clark’s sister-in-law. My name is Briella Edwards." Briella voluntarily introduced herself, mentioning Charlotte Clark in order to help Carolline understand better who she was.

"..." Carolline didn’t know when her connection with the Clark family would finally end.

Seeing Carolline’s expression, Briella knew that she had misunderstood. "Nurse Carolline, please don’t get me wrong. I want to talk to you, but I’m not here to cause you trouble."

"Come over here then." Carolline told another nurse to pay more attention to Ruth while she went to speak with Briella.

The two walked to a corridor where not many people passed by. Carolline stopped and said, "Let’s not go too far. What if your daughter needs you?"

"Yes." Briella nodded. "To be precise, I should be Charlotte Clark’s former sister-in-law. I know my husband wanted to cause you trouble because of Charlotte, so I’m not here to apologize. He’s already receiving his just desserts, and I’m planning on divorcing him. So, this has nothing to do with me and the Clark family."

"..." Carolline nodded, but she still didn’t quite understand why Briella was telling her all this.

"Actually, I came to thank you. If it weren’t for you, I might not have known that I was such a bad fit for the Clark family. Nurse Carolline, the Clark family has always held a grudge, thinking that you caused Charlotte’s problems. So, be careful if you meet any of the Clarks in the future, especially Edward Clark, Charlotte’s older brother. The two siblings have a great relationship."
