She didn’t know how the dinner ended that night, but Celia decided to stay instead of leaving the following day. She handed the contract to an assistant and asked them to take it back, while she stayed behind.

She went to the hotel where Jordy was staying and waited for him outside. Perhaps Jordy hadn’t expected her to be so persistent, so she managed to catch him after all.

Celia got into Jordy’s car, and he offered to drive her back. Just before they were about to reach G City, the two didn’t come to an agreement, and in a fit of madness, Celia tried to grab the steering wheel. Failing to do so, she tried to open the car door and jump out, feeling as if she had had enough of life.

As a result, when Jordy was trying to stop her, a large truck came crashing into them. At the last moment, she felt her body enveloped by a warm embrace, before losing consciousness.

When she awoke, she was surrounded by strangers and the overpowering scent of disinfectant filled the room.

With no familiar faces around and wanting to know how Jordy was, but not wishing to ask the strangers, she threw a tantrum until Carolline Ruiz arrived.

"So that’s what happened. What do you plan to do now?" Carolline asked cautiously as Celia had finally calmed down considerably.

"I’ll quit my job and take care of him full-time," Celia said with a determined look. "Even if he never wakes up, I’ll take care of him until I can’t anymore."

"..." Carolline felt a deep sense of distress for her. She wondered if Celia even knew just how long a lifetime was.

As they sat in silence, Jordy’s phone rang. Celia looked at the screen and sneered. Seeing her reaction, Carolline could guess who was calling.

Carolline didn’t know much about Jordy’s former fiancée, only that her name was Avery Saunders and she came from a wealthy family. When Jordy had broken off the engagement, Avery had attempted suicide by slashing her wrists in a fit of passion.

Her suicide attempt was unsuccessful, but she didn’t give up. She ran onto a busy street and was hit by a vehicle, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. The Saunders family caused a great commotion and made numerous damning accusations against the Wades, including charges of incest between siblings, attracting the attention of the media and eventually causing Jordy’s mother to have a mental breakdown.

Carolline didn’t know what kind of background the Saunders family had, but she believed that any man who became entangled with a woman like that was truly unlucky.

"Avery Saunders?" Celia sneered while reading the numerous text messages. She didn’t look at their content but could guess what the woman was sending. Avery must have been anxious not receiving a response from Jordy.

Serves her right for being so arrogant before. Avery had once told Celia that in this life, she should never hope for Jordy to come back to her.

That’s fine; if not in this life, then maybe the next. After all, this life isn’t over yet, and she had waited for the opportunity for Jordy to return to her even if he remained unconscious. As long as he was by her side, she was content. All she needed was for him to be there when she wanted to talk to him.

So what if Avery had control over his body? After all these years, Celia couldn’t believe that Avery had captured Jordy’s thoughts as well. She didn’t have much else, but she did have faith that Jordy’s love and heart were with her. She had won his soul, so all Avery had was the superficial external shell of Jordy – hardly something worth boasting about in front of Celia.
