"Yeah, dad came to find me, so I got up." Axel nodded, "Mom, you took care of dad last night, why don’t you two stay at home and rest? Richard can take me to grandma’s house."

"..." Carolline suddenly thought about what just happened between her and Bryan, she glared at him, "It’s alright, I’m on vacation today, don’t you want to go shopping for school supplies or buy new clothes?"

Every year before school starts, Carolline would buy new clothes for Axel because he grew out of his old ones quickly.

"There’s still so much time, no need to rush." Axel finished his remaining food with his head down and smiled at Aunt Lu, "Aunt Lu, I want to have a fried egg."

"Alright, Aunt Lu will make it for you right now." Aunt Lu smiled and walked away.

Carolline finished her breakfast quickly and didn’t ask for more.

After breakfast, Richard brought Aunt Lu and Axel back to Pupace Mountain. Bryan and Carolline were left alone at home.

It wasn’t a weekend, so Bryan actually needed to go to work, but he didn’t feel like it when Carolline had a day off.

Carolline wanted to clean the house, but Bryan followed her around like an adopted dog, jumping around everywhere.

"What are you doing?" Carolline couldn’t stand it anymore.

"Just want to see if there’s anything I can help you with? Can’t you see me right in front of you, waving around all this time?" Bryan felt quite wronged.

"..." Carolline helplessly put down the cloth in her hand, "Fine, you go to work, what time is it already? As the boss, you should set a good example for your staff."

"So you’re willing to go to work with me?" Bryan exclaimed excitedly, twisting Carolline’s words on purpose.

"..." How could she be willing to do that?

Five minutes later, Carolline sat in the passenger seat and Bryan happily drove the car. On the way, they encountered some people who didn’t follow traffic rules, but Bryan just smiled and didn’t curse at them.

They quickly arrived at the Hawkins Family Company, where Carolline found out how busy Bryan was and that he preferred to stay at home instead of work.

"Mrs. Hawkins, what would you like to drink?" After Xavier Estrada had taken Bryan away, the secretary from the CEO’s Office quickly welcomed Carolline and asked her needs.

Carolline didn’t want to come to Bryan’s company and become a bother to staff, who already had plenty of work. Now with her presence, they had to find time to attend to her.

"Just a glass of water, please," Carolline said to the secretary with a smile.

Carolline’s memory wasn’t very good, so she couldn’t remember Bryan’s numerous secretaries and which one was who, partly because she didn’t come here frequently.

"Alright, Mrs. Hawkins," the secretary left and brought her a glass of purified water shortly after.

Bryan was in a meeting, after which he met several department leaders. Carolline wanted to go to other offices, but Bryan didn’t allow it. He scolded or lectured whoever needed it, not even sparing those old enough to be their elders. He didn’t care, but Carolline felt embarrassed.

She didn’t know Bryan was like this when he worked, being serious and upright, which she found quite handsome. Was her past infatuation with Bryan coming back?
