However, Benjamin Ford had never thought that the chores Bryan Hawkins asked him to do would be so trivial, all involving some petty hooligans. He couldn’t understand why these thugs insisted on provoking that silent King of Hell.

Benjamin Ford thought of Bryan Hawkins as a silent King of Hell because Richard Ward told him so. He believed that Bryan was someone you would either want to befriend completely or keep a safe distance from. You certainly should not cross Bryan. He’s clever and tactical, always capable of scheming the unexpected.

Benjamin Ford really didn’t feel like he needed to personally handle these matters, but Bryan had stressed the importance so ardently that he reluctantly delegated the task to one of his key underlings. When the underling received the task, he expressed his disdain but had no choice but to take it on.

The task was easy and the reward was high. However, such a petty job felt demeaning to them. Yet, for some reason, Bryan seemed to enjoy giving out such tasks.

The next day, when Carolline Ruiz woke up, Bryan Hawkins was already happily having breakfast with Axel in the living room. She intended to wait for Bryan’s return before sleeping, but tiredness overwhelmed her sooner. After assigning tasks to Benjamin Ford, Bryan himself took a shower and went to bed next to Carolline.

He woke up feeling refreshed in the morning. With Carolline still asleep, he gave his wife a sweet morning kiss before going to play with Axel. The youngster couldn’t resist his father’s antics and got up.

Aunt Lu had prepared breakfast for them early, and she even made Bryan a hangover soup.

The most amazing thing about Aunt Lu’s hangover soup is that after drinking it, you won’t feel the usual headache caused by a hangover.

"Daddy, did you get drunk last night?" Axel didn’t know when Bryan came home, or how late it must have been.

"No, I didn’t get drunk. Just had a bit too much to drink," Bryan Hawkins said, shaking his head. If he were drunk, he wouldn’t be alert enough to deal with some matters efficiently.

"Then let’s not go out today. You drank a lot, it’s better to rest at home." Axel suggested responsibly. "Or, I could visit grandma or my maternal grandparents, and you could spend some time with mom?"

Having so much sense was all due to Bryan’s good parenting.

Bryan also taught Axel about the concept of ’couple time’.

"..." When Carolline Ruiz came downstairs and heard their conversation, she was taken aback. What ’couple time’ training had Bryan been giving their son? Seeing Richard Ward about to go upstairs, they bumped into each other. "Miss, you’re up?"

"Richard, good morning." Carolline Ruiz warmly greeted Richard. The father-son duo conversing at the breakfast table fell silent.

When Carolline went outside, Bryan gave her a big, goofy smile. She ignored him and walked straight towards Axel, "You got up really early today, didn’t you?"

She could tell because Axel had already finished all his breakfast.

Aunt Lu brought over Carolline’s breakfast, and she thanked her with a smile. Having Aunt Lu and Richard around made the house a bit crowded but also brought warmth.

Plus, Richard promised that once Axel started school, he would take up the responsibility of pick-ups and drop-offs to ease their burden as they were also working.

Carolline didn’t mind – she could drop Axel at his maternal grandma’s on her way to work, and then Emily Hill could bring him to the kindergarten.
