Chapter 501: Chapter 501: Mrs. Li, The CEO’s Wife (4)
Bryan Hawkins only acknowledges one woman as his wife. Everyone else in the past, be it Phoebe Miller or Matilda Ferguson, are all history now.
Everyone finally realized that their recent peaceful life had made them completely forget how devilish Bryan was before. They thought Bryan had become kinder thanks to Mrs. Hawkins, but that didn’t mean Bryan would tolerate their nonsensical gossip. And yet, they spread those false rumors online as if they were true. They must have a death wish.
The distribution of wedding candies was not to please them, but to threaten and warn them. If they want to quit, they can continue to spread the rumors.
So when Carolline Ruiz arrived, without Xavier Estrada’s reminder or Bryan’s introduction, everyone respectfully called her Mrs. Hawkins.
Carolline nodded at them and responded with greetings. Bryan Hawkins stood by her side, smiling brightly.
What else could this scene imply? It proved that Phoebe Miller was indeed a thing of the past. The current Mrs. Hawkins could make Bryan smile so brightly, something never seen before.
Seeing is believing, hearing may be false. This is a welfare for all the staff of the Hawkins family.
Bryan eventually told everyone to work earnestly. He said the company wouldn’t let them down and then happily went to his office with Carolline. It was only when Carolline entered the office room that she realized Bryan’s intention. This was all premeditated. Yet, she, like a fool, walked right into it. She was embarrassed, but equally happy.
Women are such contradictory creatures. It’s quite normal for their words to contradict their feelings.
"Are you tired? Take a break," Bryan said with concern as the secretary brought in two cups of high-quality coffee.
"I’m fine. Thank you." The latter part, Carolline said to Bryan’s secretary.
"...You’re welcome, Mrs. Hawkins." The secretary blushed. This was the first time anyone had thanked her so politely for making coffee for Mr. Hawkins and his guests. Instantly, she felt Mrs. Hawkins was really a nice person, no wonder Mr. Hawkins cherished her so much.
"You can leave now," Bryan told the secretary. He walked over to Carolline and put his arms around her, "Are you upset?"
"No, you go on with your work. According to Xavier, you can’t finish your daily tasks lately. How long do you plan to delay?" Carolline pushed him jokingly. It’s his office room, they need to be more cautious.
"Okay, there are magazines and a computer over there, choose what you’d like to do." Bryan said, his face a touch pink. Xavier appeared to be more audacious, talking about him behind his back.
"Alright, don’t worry about me. I know what to do." Carolline knew how to kill time, by reading novels or watching movies, and the afternoon would fly by.
Bryan didn’t say anything more. That Xavier, always slowing him down. Now he’d let him see his work efficiency.
So, in the office room that afternoon, the scene was incredibly idyllic. Bryan was busy with his work while Carolline peacefully kept him company. Time passed serenely.
Eternal longing filled the occasional glances. Someone’s heart was concocting little schemes, dreaming about the wonderful life if every day could be like this.
Carolline quietly read novels on her phone. She liked to read novels in her spare time, which she didn’t have much of. So when she read, she was fully absorbed, unaware of someone in the room, who was silently ’calculating’ her happiness by watching her.
With Carolline’s company, time flew by quickly. His work efficiency was high, and by four-thirty, Bryan had informed all department heads to come upstairs and take the signed documents. He pointed out the ones with issues and asked them to correct them so he could sign when they return to work the next day.
