Chapter 485: Chapter 485: Enemies Encounter on the Narrow Road (4)
"No need, Dad, Elena has plenty of toys at home." Daisy Willow quickly said, knowing that her parents’ hard-earned money couldn’t afford the toys at the store that often cost well over a hundred dollars.
"If she has many, why did she accept the gift?" Daisy’s father gave his daughter a stern look. He wasn’t upset with Elena because she was too young to understand, but expected more from the adults.
"..." Daisy Willow bowed her head, realizing she was wrong.
Young Elena, who was often on the receiving end of Mrs. Shen’s disdain, was actually quite sensitive. Seeing her grandfather’s stern face and her mother’s guilty appearance, she didn’t dare to speak up for her mother. Her tiny hands clung tightly to her mother’s hand.
Noticing Elena’s anxiety, Daisy quickly comforted her, "It’s okay, Elena. Grandpa is just teaching me a lesson."
Seeing Elena’s frightened face, Daisy’s mother couldn’t help but lecture Daisy’s father. In her eyes and heart, Elena was the most important now.
At ten past one, the bus arrived at East Railway Station. Celia Wade came to pick them up in a car she had borrowed from Carolline Ruiz. Although Carolline couldn’t make it due to work, Celia brought a flying balloon as a gift for Elena after not seeing her for several days.
Elena was thrilled as she held it. As soon as she saw Daisy’s parents, she immediately greeted them, "Uncle, Auntie, hello, my name is Celia Wade, I’m friends with Daisy. You can just call me Celia. Auntie, let me help you carry that."
Celia then tried to take a bag from Daisy’s mother.
Seeing that Celia had delicate skin, Daisy’s mother felt embarrassed about the dirty, heavy luggage, not to mention the girl was so nice, not only provided them a room, but also came to pick them up, "No need, miss. Thank you for coming to pick us up. I can handle these things. I’ve been working hard all my life. It’s fine. You lead the way."
"You’re too polite, Auntie." Celia found Daisy’s mom to be incredibly kind and approachable, but ultimately designed to help lead Elena towards the parking lot when her insistence wasn’t accepted.
"You must be hungry from the ride here, let’s go have lunch," Celia suggested as they got in the car.
"No need, Celia, we can just eat some noodles at home," Daisy Willow declined. Her parents, long accustomed to a frugal domestic life, were not used to the cost of eating out in G City.
"What are you saying, it’s your parents’ first visit, and you want them to cook instead of resting after a long journey? Let’s just have a meal outside, it won’t delay us. Let’s go," Celia insisted.
Daisy stopped talking. Daisy’s father and mother exchanged glances, saying nothing. Although the woman named Celia in front of them was stylishly dressed, they got the impression that she was sincere and grounded. They didn’t say much else.
Celia Wade, aware of Daisy’s concerns, took them to an ordinary Homestyle Restaurant and did not choose a high-end place. She ordered some affordable and delicious dishes that were suitable for Daisy’s parents’ taste. In the end, the older couple were very satisfied and didn’t let any food or soup go to waste. They finished everything.
The bill Celia paid was less than two hundred yuan for four adults and a child, which was incredibly cheap for her. Yet every dish she ordered, Daisy would reject, which resulted in the lower price.
Daisy naturally had an argument with her, which she didn’t win.
After lunch, it was not yet three o’clock. Celia drove them home. Seeing the large and beautifully decorated house, Daisy’s parents then looked down at their own clothes and shoes. None were shabby, but they simply did not fit in with their surroundings.
