Chapter 465: Chapter 465: She is My Wife (1)
The next day, Carolline Ruiz slept in quite late before getting up and Bryan Hawkins just stayed with her. By the time she discovered that he hadn’t gone to work either, she finally understood why she had been humiliated like that the previous night - all of this was premeditated by him.
After getting up, they had breakfast and lunch all at once. Bryan Hawkins ordered takeout while Carolline Ruiz headed to the bathroom to clean up. Even after washing with warm water, her legs were still trembling as she walked out.
Bryan Hawkins looked at her awkward gait, covering his mouth and laughing secretly. Unhappy, Carolline Ruiz glared at him. Noticing Carolline was genuinely upset, Bryan Hawkins hurriedly approached, "The delivery won’t be here for a while. In the meantime, how about I give you a massage?"
"No need." Carolline knew that he was not really interested in the wine, and she definitely didn’t want her colleagues to see her like this later that night at the charity banquet and give them another reason to laugh.
"..." Feeling rejected by his wife, Bryan Hawkins began to feel guilty. It was true that he had been a bit unrestrained lately, but he couldn’t be blamed, right? After all, they had been apart for several days before this.
The delivery arrived quickly, and both sat together to eat. Carolline was genuinely hungry and ate quite a bit.
After eating and drinking sufficiently, and considering she had slept well last night, Bryan Hawkins checked the time and looked at Carolline. Her rosy complexion was already very pretty, but no one would complain if their wife got even more beautiful.
"Let’s go shopping, if you’re not too tired," Bryan Hawkins suggested. Otherwise, if they stayed at home, he would feel an urge to be more mischievous, and he simply couldn’t help himself.
If he were to set her free like this, Carolline would probably hate him to death.
"Sure." Carolline nodded. Going out was much safer than staying at home.
After tidying up a bit, the couple went out and headed to the International Trade Building in the city center. Bryan Hawkins only reserved an hour for shopping, and Carolline went straight to the maternity and baby store to buy some pre-pregnancy products for Megan Clifton. Since she already had experience, she didn’t listen to the sales introduction and buy any expensive, but impractical items. She bought several high-quality glass bottles, bottle brushes, disinfectant tissues for pregnant women during childbirth, disposable paper panties and nursing pads, among other things.
A seasoned mother with such experience, she prompted the waiter to stop talking and simply recommend better quality products. Carolline didn’t refuse and accepted them.
After buying those items, the couple casually strolled around, and Bryan Hawkins spotted a pair of crystal high heels that he thought were beautiful. Carolline’s white feet would look especially nice in them. Although the heels were a bit higher than what she usually wore, the quality of the shoes made them fit well and they weren’t too uncomfortable to walk in.
When Carolline saw the price, she was scared to death. A pair of shoes actually cost half a year’s worth of her salary! She immediately wanted to refuse, but her rich husband had already asked the waiter to start the billing process and handed over his card for payment.
Although Carolline had some complaints, she didn’t want to embarrass her husband in public, so she didn’t try to stop the transaction. After settling the bill, the two walked out and Carolline finally spoke up, "Don’t buy such expensive shoes again in the future. A lot of families can’t even spend this much money in a year. It’s not good for us to live so lavishly."
That was Carolline’s mindset. As she had never been good at math since she was young, she didn’t know exactly how wealthy Bryan Hawkins was, no matter what people said about him being the richest. But no matter how much money he had, she always believed that money should be spent wisely, thanks to her parents’ teachings. Unnecessary expenses were a waste, and these shoes were no exception.
