Chapter 466: Chapter 466: She is My Wife (2)
Moreover, she didn’t really like following celebrities, and she didn’t know how easy it was for them to make money. Perhaps she didn’t like their ostentatious display of wealth – showing off their mansions and piles of handbags, never feeling that one too many of the same brand was enough.
Of course, that was someone else’s lifestyle, and everyone had different values. Maybe they worked hard to earn their money, and there was no reason not to enjoy the fruits of their labor. She wouldn’t judge them, but she personally couldn’t accept such excessive consumption.
"Don’t worry, if you feel sorry for someone and it bothers you, we’ll donate more tonight." Bryan Hawkins held her little hand, "We’ll donate, but we will still have money left to buy my wife shoes. We still need to have our basic needs met."
He genuinely felt that the pair of shoes matched well with Carolline Ruiz’s feet. No matter how little or how expensive they were, as long as it was within his means, he would buy them for his wife.
Carolline couldn’t argue with him, so she gave up.
Carolline was never a shopping expert, so an hour later, her feet began to hurt. They went to a café to rest and ordered some drinks, staying there for quite some time.
Bryan checked the time again – it was already two-thirty. The charity banquet started at seven, so it was just about enough time for them to get styled, buy an evening gown and have something to eat.
So they paid the bill and left, Carolline thought they were going home. She only realized they weren’t when Bryan brought her into a styling salon, which made her ask surprised, "Why are we here?"
"We need to get our hair and makeup done for the Miller Family’s charity banquet. It’s important to treat it seriously," Bryan explained with a smile, then handed her over to a stylist, "Just a simple and gentle look, nothing too extravagant."
"Yes, Mr. Hawkins, this lady’s temperament is not suitable for anything too extravagant." The stylist smiled.
"She’s my wife," Bryan suddenly said, as he didn’t like others referring to Carolline as "this lady."
"... My apologies, Mrs. Hawkins, if I offended you earlier," the stylist immediately apologized to Carolline.
"It’s okay," Carolline said, her joy at being called Bryan’s wife was quickly replaced by awkwardness. She hadn’t expected such a formal apology from the stylist.
Ignorance is forgivable, isn’t it?
"When do you plan on announcing this happy news to the world, Mr. Hawkins?" The stylist seemed familiar with Bryan and continued fishing for gossip.
"At the end of the year. The wedding dress will take three months. We’ll have you do her bridal makeup then. Okay, let’s speed things up, we have a charity banquet to attend tonight," Bryan said, urging the stylist to hurry up with Carolline’s styling, not giving them a chance to congratulate the couple.
Carolline was taken inside to get her hair and makeup done, and Bryan went to another stylist for his hair.
His hair was simple, so between the styling and changing clothes, it took just over an hour. Carolline’s styling took a full two hours. It was her first time realizing that a "simple" look could take so long. What about on their wedding day, with all the elaborate bridal makeup? Would she have to wake up at three or four in the morning to get ready? Otherwise, how would they manage?
Carolline didn’t know why she suddenly thought of their wedding day, as if she was eager to get married. However, in Z Country’s customs, holding a wedding ceremony was necessary even after legally registering their marriage. In fact, only a wedding ceremony without a marriage certificate would not be legally protected, right?
