Chapter 454: Chapter 454: Leaving a Voice Without a Trace (6)

At five o’clock, Bryan Hawkins arrived promptly at the hospital entrance. When Carolline Ruiz came out, her mood was still somewhat downcast.

"What’s wrong?" Carolline got in the car and didn’t notice the large bouquet of roses he had specially prepared for her in the back seat. There weren’t 999 roses, and Bryan didn’t pay attention to how many there were. He just knew it was a large bouquet that shouldn’t be neglected so easily.

But Carolline didn’t notice, she didn’t even smell the roses, which was unusual.

"Did something happen at work?" Bryan didn’t start driving, but instead he took Carolline’s hand.

Only then did Carolline notice that Bryan hadn’t started the car and they were still parked. She pulled out her seat belt and fastened it herself. "It’s nothing, please start driving. Aren’t we supposed to go back and cook dinner?"

"In your current state, do you even have the mood to cook?" Bryan asked with concern.

"Really, it’s nothing. It’s just that the Miller Family’s charity has given our hospital two slots, but we have five children who urgently need help. I don’t know how to choose. The list needs to be confirmed by tomorrow evening and until now, I don’t know which three families I should cut out. They are all so pitiful." As Carolline spoke, she couldn’t help but tear up.

"So that’s what’s bothering you? Honey, you should have told me if something was worrying you. That’s what husbands are for. Leave it to me, I’ll handle it. Is that okay?" Bryan hugged Carolline, who was filled with kindness. Seeing her distressed look earlier, he thought she had been mistreated. It had worried him, and it turned out to be such a minor issue.

"...But isn’t this against their rules? Wouldn’t that be inappropriate?" Carolline had initially forgotten about this morning’s incident. Now, hearing Bryan’s suggestion, she thought it wouldn’t be right to use his relationship with Felicia Miller to handle this matter.

Carolline didn’t know what she was worrying about. If Felicia agreed, she wouldn’t feel good about it. Felicia was a principled person. If she made an exception because of Bryan’s request, then one could imagine the relationship between the two.

However, she was unable to resist forcefully because the five children from those families really needed help. She wanted to assist them, but she didn’t have the same influence as Felicia. Thus, her contribution would only be a drop in the bucket.

"Do you really think I’m the type to force others? Trust me. If I say I can handle it, then believe me. Now, smile for me." He enjoyed seeing her happy and didn’t like to see her so melancholic.

His wife was really kind-hearted, treating friends and children alike. He wondered if it was a blessing or a curse for him. It must be more of a curse, as these people took Carolline’s attention away from him.

Carolline forced a smile.

Bryan reached back and handed her the flowers. "These are for you."

"Is today a special day?" Carolline asked in confusion, as she could not think of any holidays that called for such an solemn presentation of flowers.

"No, it’s not a special day. I just wanted to give my wife flowers." Women love flowers. When he heard his female staff talking about this earlier in the day, Bryan felt like giving Carolline flowers.

Since meeting Carolline, he didn’t think he had ever done such a thing. And yet, this silly girl even bore him a son unknowingly. He would never let go of this treasure in his lifetime.

"...Is it really that simple?" Carolline was skeptical. No matter how she calculated the day, she couldn’t figure out what special day it was. In the end, she had to accept his explanation, as simple as it was.
