Chapter 417: Chapter 417: She Wants a Divorce (3)
"Miss Daisy, please don’t be so polite, sit down and let’s talk." Simon also reached out his hand, shook hands with her, and asked her to sit down.
This woman was a typical Bristol lady, gentle and delicate. She was the kind of standard woman that men with traditional male chauvinism would love. It was obvious that she was the type who considered her husband as her world. No wonder Carolline mentioned that she was bullied by her mother-in-law without daring to say a word.
After Daisy Willow sat down, Axel had already brought Elena Duncan over to his side. He had ordered a children’s meal for her and even one for himself, but he did not eat it as he planned to wait for Elena and share the meal with her.
With their heads close together, Axel said to Elena, "Let’s eat over there and then play. Let the grown-ups talk about their own things."
Axel didn’t know exactly what was going on, but Carolline had instructed him to take Elena out to play once she arrived.
The two children went to a nearby table as the three adults sat down to chat. Both Carolline and Simon ordered iced coffee, while Daisy was served a glass of orange juice.
"Miss Daisy, there aren’t many important questions to ask since Carolline has already explained your situation to me very clearly. I need you to confirm a few things. First, have you decided to hire me as your attorney? Or, before that, do you need to evaluate my legal qualifications and my previous work...?"
Simon’s words were cut off by Daisy Willow, "Mr. Simon, as Carolline recommended you to me, I fully trust you. There’s no need for evaluation. If Cole Duncan refuses to divorce me amicably, I will hire you as my attorney. So, I will need your help from now on."
"Alright, how many days do you think you need to talk to your husband properly?"
"One day is enough." Daisy Willow knew that the lawyer’s time was valuable. Besides, after making up her mind, she did not intend to communicate well with Cole Duncan. The main reason she wanted to talk to him was out of respect, otherwise, she could have asked Simon to send a lawyer’s letter to him based on his mother’s attitude.
"Alright, I accept that. Now for the second question: since you’ve decided to hire me, Carolline has already informed me of your previous requests. You only want custody of your daughter, Elena, and you don’t plan to ask for alimony. Is that correct?"
Daisy nodded. As long as Cole was willing to give her Elena, she would be grateful. As for alimony, since her mother-in-law was unwilling to pay, she could give it up. At worst, she and Elena would have a hard time initially.
She believed that with her own efforts, she would definitely find a good job, and then life would get better and better for her and Elena.
"Actually, I agree with Carolline that you should claim what you deserve. After all, it is a fact that your husband is with another woman, which cannot be denied. Moreover, he has had a child with another woman. These are all pieces of evidence, so even if you ask for half his property, I have a high chance of winning the lawsuit. Are you sure you want to give up?"
Since Daisy was close to Carolline, there were some things Simon, as a lawyer, should not have said. If it were not for this relationship, Simon would only have spoken official words that a lawyer should say instead of such heartfelt words mixed with his judgment and personal sympathy.
According to Carolline, after Daisy married Cole Duncan, she had quit her job and became a housewife, and her mother-in-law held the financial power of the family. The allowance she received every month was not much, so she hardly had any savings.
