Chapter 418: Chapter 418: She Wants a Divorce (4)
If a lawsuit really is pursued, this is precisely what she is worried about. If Cole Duncan and his mother disregard their conscience and declare that Daisy Willow has no income, then for the child’s future well-being, the Judge would certainly award custody to whoever has the financial capability.
Even if Elena Duncan staunchly supports her mother, expressing her wish to live with her, the fact remains that material resources are insufficient, and Daisy Willow’s wishes might not be fulfilled.
Therefore, after discussing it with Simon Carrington, they both agreed that child support is essential. Only with money can a stable economic foundation be established, which guarantees Elena Duncan’s basic needs.
For a woman with no income and no job, fighting for custody is difficult unless the man willingly gives up.
"I don’t want their money, and besides, they probably won’t give it anyway. It’s okay, as long as I have Elena Duncan, it’s enough. I will find a job as soon as possible." Daisy Willow nods her head, she genuinely does not want money from the Duncan Family. To her, Elena Duncan is her most important treasure.
"Is it that you do not want it, or is it because they do not want to give it? They might not want to give, but if the court rules in our favor, they must." Simon Carrington reminds her again.
Although he can waive his attorney fee for the sake of Carolline Ruiz, the ensuing agency contract they sign must include an attorney fee payment clause. Given that the opposition is so wealthy, the level of their hired lawyer would not be modest. Therefore, it’s easy to run up the legal fees.
A woman without an income, burdened with hefty legal fees, surely faces a tough time.
"It’s better not to involve it, I apologize for the trouble, Mr. Carrington." Daisy Willow is this naive; since the mother-in-law is unwilling to provide, she does not mind going without it. All she wishes for is a peaceful divorce.
"Alright then, I know what to do now." Simon Carrington looks at Carolline Ruiz; it seems his persuasion has failed as well.
"Will it trouble you too much, Mr. Carrington?" Daisy Willow looks at Simon, asking gingerly. She is genuinely worries about causing trouble for others, especially since he is a friend of Carolline Ruiz.
She has already troubled Carolline so much.
"Not at all, since we chose the legal profession, handling difficulties is part of the job, moreover, your divorce case is just a minor lawsuit, Miss Willow. Just relax from here on, once we have signed the agency contract, you just need to cooperate well." Simon says and glances at his watch, "Carolline, if there is nothing else, I’ll be going."
"Okay, let’s stay a bit longer; both kids are enjoying each other’s company." Carolline nods and finally says, "I appreciate your help, Simon."
"It’s nothing, really." Simon gives a light laugh.
He plans to change his career due to a family incident, not practicing law anymore, but getting into business, as his grandfather wishes for him to take up the responsibility of the Carrington Family. He doesn’t know why his grandfather insists on entrusting him with the family business he worked so hard to build, but since his grandfather is adamant, he doesn’t want to disappoint him.
In fact, he should thank Carolline. After deciding not to be a lawyer, she has brought him this lawsuit, which will give him an opportunity to present in the courtroom one more time.
This matter is something he has yet to tell Carolline; anyway, this lawsuit will require him to stay in G City for a while.
It won’t be too late to discuss this after the case is settled.
Perhaps by then, he’ll need her husband’s help to network, so he can’t afford to offend Carolline and her husband. He has to serve them carefully.
"Alright, you can go first then. We’ll keep in touch." Carolline nods, deciding not to stand on ceremony with him.
