Chapter 261: Chapter 261 Unmasking the Lies (9)
Five minutes later, Bryan Hawkins and Andy Aguirre sat down at a tea place near the hospital. Bryan ordered a cup of West Lake Gritist, while Andy opted for Chrysanthemum tea. The chrysanthemum tea had a cooling effect that he desperately needed right now, otherwise he’d not dare to guarantee that he wouldn’t attack Bryan again during a disagreement.
"I saw Axel yesterday and even had dinner with them." Bryan recalled after seeing the irritation still present on Andy’s face and decided to break the ice.
"You met him? Did Axel beat you up?" Andy found it hard to believe. Even though Carolline Ruiz had repeatedly warned against speaking ill of Bryan in front of Axel, Andy had indirectly told Axel that a qualified man would never abandon his wife and child for as long as five years.
In other words, Bryan was an extremely unqualified man. Andy didn’t mention names, but he believed that with Axel’s intelligence, he would understand the gist of his words.
He still remembered how Axel seemed to agree with his statement at the time.
Therefore, Andy thought that if one day Bryan came back and appeared in front of Carolline and Axel, Carolline may not be excited, but Axel would definitely beat him up.
However, he didn’t expect that Axel’s betrayal would be so severe, which naturally led Carolline to be upset with him.
"No, Axel called me dad." When Bryan thought of Axel’s performance last night, he felt so thrilled that he even forgot about his painful nose. As soon as he smiled, the pain would flare up again.
"..." Andy suddenly had nothing to say. Axel had barely just met him and started calling him dad already. How could Axel be so unprincipled? He felt disappointed in him. "What about... Carolline?"
"...She ignored me." And not only that, she also lied to him. Albeit, she probably didn’t expect to be exposed by him the very next day.
"Served you right." Andy nodded satisfyingly and threw a word at Bryan, as if to rub salt in the wound.
The two, who had never exchanged a single word before, were now able to sit here and talk so much. Even though Andy felt the content of their conversation was terrible, the atmosphere was unexpectedly harmonious, even eerily so.
"I’m not leaving." Before Andy could ask, Bryan offered an answer.
"Huh?" Andy raised his eyebrows. What did Bryan mean by that? Hadn’t he previously talked about a deeply engraved love affair? Phoebe Miller was a worldwide traveler, right? So Bryan was just following his heart, wasn’t he?
By saying he’s not leaving now, did it mean he had seen Axel and decided to abandon that engraved love affair?
"What I mean is that I’ll take back what I should have taken back five years ago. In fact, we wouldn’t even have gone through a divorce if it weren’t for... if it weren’t for my trying to make way for you guys. Do you think I’d do that?" Bryan picked up his teacup and took a sip.
Could he really do that? The thought of sending Xavier Estrada to get the divorce certificate five years ago still pained him deeply.
"...You’re just incredibly stupid." Andy paused, suddenly realizing what had happened, and asked, "Aren’t those reporters saying you are a genius?"
"..." Bryan fell silent. He didn’t know whom to thank for being considered foolish.
Andy just let him go like that. A person who had originally intended to settle scores with Bryan seriously just left him be.
Bryan barely said a few sentences with his silver tongue, and Andy had already betrayed him. When Carolline found out, she was extremely upset with him.
After thinking it through, it was clear that Bryan wasn’t stupid at all — he was a very clever and cunning person, a fox that no one could match.
