She walked through the small iron gate into the Family Area, where Bryan Hawkins stood upright in the doorway of their apartment building. He did not approach her but waited for her to come closer.

Carolline took a deep breath before slowly moving towards him. Stopping at his right front, she asked, "Why are you here again?"

"I’m here to confirm our appointment the day after tomorrow." Bryan knew Carolline’s day off was coming up, and he didn’t want anyone else to take advantage of her free time, even if it was another woman.

"The day after tomorrow? I’m busy this week..." Carolline furrowed her brow. She remembered telling him clearly last night that she was busy this week. However, when she looked up at him, she noticed his nose seemed swollen. Had he been in a fight?

Andy Aguirre punched me in the nose, and it bled. I stopped the bleeding at your Outpatient clinic, and I overheard your conversation with your colleague about your day off the day after tomorrow." Bryan showed no emotion, as he was determined to get Carolline to agree. If she didn’t, he would pester her until she did.

"Well... you heard that my colleague invited me to go shopping. I..." Carolline wanted to argue but thought to herself, was he persistent or just shameless?

Could Andy, such a well-mannered person, really punch him hard enough to make his nose bleed? Could Andy even win in a fight against him?

"Carolline, there should be a priority in everything, right? I asked you first, didn’t I?" Bryan stared at her, emphasizing his point.

Carolline remained silent, acknowledging that there was indeed a priority in things, but she thought she had the right to choose. She didn’t want to meet him alone and chat. Why was that so wrong?

"Carolline." Suddenly, Emily Hill walked through the iron gate carrying several bags. Seeing Carolline and Bryan talking in the open, Carolline wore an unhappy expression. Emily called her, "Come help me with these bags."

"Mom, didn’t you say you were coming back this afternoon? Why are you back so early?" Carolline hurried over and helped Emily with the bags. ’Not good,’ Carolline thought, her mother had returned early and encountered Bryan, now there was no avoiding it.

"Faye Miller called me and said our kindergarten has met a benefactor. Turns out it’s not a stranger but someone we know." Emily approached Bryan as she spoke. She was telling Carolline why she had returned early, but her gaze was fixed on Bryan, "Mr. Hawkins, when did you come back?"

"Auntie, I came back the night before yesterday." Bryan replied, humble in attitude.

"Carolline, since we have a guest, you should invite them upstairs. Mr. Hawkins, if you don’t mind, please come to our house for a while." Emily glanced at both of them and saw that something must have happened during her absence.

Even Faye knew that Bryan was Axel’s father. Emily was informed of this secret and decided to return immediately after breakfast with a few young teachers.

Emily had been good friends with Faye for many years. They simply explained the situation: Bryan was Carolline’s ex-husband, they had divorced, and Bryan was indeed Axel’s father.

Faye was suddenly unsure whether to accept Bryan’s sponsorship or not. Over the phone, she promised Emily that she would decide. Immediately, Emily expressed her opinion on the phone that she should accept the sponsorship. Since someone was willing to sponsor their kindergarten, why not accept the money? Besides, she intended to ask Bryan for even more financial support.
