Chapter 257: Chapter 257 Unmasking the Lies (5)
Actually, she was very tired, but Carolline only fell asleep after lying in bed for a long time. She didn’t even know what was on her mind. If it hadn’t been for her alarm clock going off every morning, relying solely on Carolline’s biological clock, Axel would have been late for school today.
When Carolline finished washing up and came out, Axel was already dressed and sitting at the table eating breakfast. He was wearing the clothes that Carolline had bought for him; they had been washed the night before and were probably still damp.
Henry Ruiz had bought steamed buns and porridge, as well as soy milk and Fried Dough Sticks. Seeing Carolline come out, he hurriedly left, "Carolline, I’m off to work."
"Grandpa, take your time." Carolline nodded, and Axel swallowed the bun in his mouth, warning him.
Carolline lovingly touched Axel’s head and then sat down opposite him. "Axel, I didn’t have a very good tone last night. Don’t hold it against me, okay?"
Carolline still remembered the aggrieved look on Axel’s face yesterday, and couldn’t help feeling guilty.
"No, I won’t. Grandma told me that every month, you would have a few days when you can’t control yourself. It’s okay, Axel understands." Axel nodded sensibly and said understandingly.
"..." Carolline was petrified on the spot. Her mom actually talked about this to a child; she couldn’t believe it. Is that how grandmothers are supposed to act?
"Oh, and grandma said it’s called Aunt Flow. Mom, is your Aunt Flow coming soon, or has she already arrived?" Axel looked at Carolline with wide, innocent eyes. So that was why she was in a bad mood towards him and his father yesterday?
That must be it. He’ll ask his dad when he sees him on the weekend if his dad is mad at his mom. If he is, he’ll explain it to his dad so he won’t be angry.
Grandma also said that men should give way to women because women have annoying Aunt Flow, whereas men don’t.
"..." Carolline wanted to scream. How could her mother, as a grandmother, say such things? She felt embarrassed for her own mother. "Do you want to eat the cake from yesterday? Do you want me to get it for you?"
"No, I’ll wait for grandma to come back and eat it with her." Axel shook his head and refused. "Mom, sit down and eat breakfast quickly. It’s a twenty-minute walk, so don’t be late."
As class cadre, he should arrive at the kindergarten earlier than the others to set an example. So, Axel’s schedule wasn’t about being on time before nine but being at least twenty minutes ahead of others, so he had to hurry for eight-forty.
Usually, he arrives by eight-thirty, but now it’s already eight. It’s time for his grandpa to go to work, but his mom hasn’t eaten breakfast yet.
Carolline quickly sat down and ate breakfast, finishing the remaining steamed buns, as well as eating half a Fried Dough Stick and drinking some soy milk. She didn’t have time to wash the dishes, so she just put them in the sink and took Axel out.
Axel arrived at school at eight-forty today, complaining a little. Carolline quickly tried to appease him, but Axel didn’t have time to chat with her. After waving goodbye to her, he quickly ran into the kindergarten.
Before going home, Carolline went to the marketplace and bought some ribs for steaming at night and half a duck for dinner. She planned to cook duck soup for Axel to drink.
For lunch, she casually bought some meat and green peppers, mixed with some green vegetables. Passing by the Fruit Stand, she bought some seasonal fruits and then prepared to go home.
At the Hospital entrance, she met Megan Clifton and Andy Aguirre, who looked like they had just woken up. It was already a little past nine. Ah, people without children were indeed fortunate.
"Carolline, you’re done with your grocery shopping? You’re more and more like a dutiful wife and loving mother. My mother-in-law will definitely nag me about it again." Megan Clifton rubbed her sleepy eyes, still yawning.
