It was like a couple strolling through the countryside, chatting casually from time to time.

Bryan Hawkins’ car stopped at the entrance of the village, and Xavier Estrada followed him not too far away. As they walked into the village, everyone they passed was busy. Yet the handsome Bryan Hawkins still attracted quite a few stares from the villagers.

The children were even more interested in the excitement, crowding around the car stuck in the village and chattering excitedly. It seemed as if they had never seen such a beautiful little car before. The car’s body was so shiny and most importantly, they couldn’t see anything inside. Could it be a model car?

But they had clearly seen the car being driven just now, and two people had gotten out of it.

Bryan Hawkins turned a blind eye to these gazes. He just wanted to find Carolline Ruiz, see how she was doing, and take the opportunity to clarify everything he wanted to say to her all at once.

"Mr. Hawkins, this village doesn’t look small. Why don’t we ask someone for directions?" Xavier Estrada noticed that Bryan Hawkins was just walking straight ahead without direction, so he suggested this idea.

Bryan Hawkins stopped and randomly grabbed someone to ask, "Hello, can you tell me where Carolline Ruiz, the doctor who came to your town, is now?"

"She’s staying at the Village Chief’s house, but at this time, she should have gone to the temple." This person happened to have passed by the Village Chief’s house just now and saw Carolline and two others heading in the direction of the temple.

"Is there any event happening in the village today?" Bryan Hawkins continued asking.

While nearing Gratan Town with Xavier Estrada, he discovered that their phones had no signal and they couldn’t make any calls, so calling Carolline wasn’t an option. They could only search for her in a primitive way.

"Yes, we have a rain-seeking ceremony every year at the beginning of the busy farming season," the villager answered earnestly.

"Okay, thank you," Bryan Hawkins didn’t ask for the temple’s specific location since there was an event involving the whole village. All they needed to do was follow the crowd.

Bryan Hawkins quickened his pace, with Xavier Estrada following closely behind.

Carolline was having a good chat with Andy Aguirre. The children in the village were mostly still at a mischievous age. They had caught small fish, shrimp, and crabs from the river with Gavin Campbell. The girls weren’t afraid of these things since they had been exposed to them from a young age.

Someone thought of playing a prank on Carolline, so an older child grabbed two crabs and threw them in front of her. Carolline was really startled.

Looking at the crabs walking sideways in front of her, waving their claws, Carolline was terrified. With a scream, she tried to run to the side, but Andy Aguirre reached out to hold her and steady her, "Don’t be afraid. It’s just two small crabs."

"Bobby Spinster, Bobby Spinster, no fooling around!" Andy Aguirre accurately called out the names of the two troublemakers and strictly ordered.

The two boys didn’t expect Carolline to be so scared. Hearing Andy’s cold voice, they suddenly became dispirited. Moreover, Carolline was so nice to them usually; they knew they were wrong, but they were too embarrassed to apologize.

"It’s all right, Andy. Don’t scare them. You two go play." Carolline spoke up for them, she wouldn’t blame them. She also had a mischievous streak when she was a teenager.

When she was young, she wasn’t so afraid of crabs. She used to ask her parents to buy crabs for her at the marketplace, and she would keep them at home. Later, she became scared after being pinched by a crab.

As people grow up, it seems that they become scared of more things. Now even these two crabs gave her a fright. It’s like she’s becoming more and more useless as she lives on.
